In-person absentee early voting for the 2026 April Special Election is available today at the Goochland Sports Complex in Goochland County from 9 AM to 5 PM. As a reminder, in-person absentee voting will be open during business hours Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm until Friday, April 17. Special hours will also be available on Saturday, April 18, from 9 AM until 5 PM.

Today is the last day to request an Absentee Ballot to be sent to you for the 2026 April Special Election. Goochland County and Goochland County Fire-Rescue broke ground on a major milestone for public safety and emergency services on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Fire-Rescue Station 8 is the first new fire-rescue district added in the county in over 60 years.

The creation of Station 8 is the result of a decades-long effort to expand fire rescue coverage to the Sandy Hook area, a project first identified in Fire-Rescue reports dating back to the 1970s. Since then, county leaders and public safety officials have advocated for a station that will shorten emergency response times and improve community safety.

Goochland County has a leash law for 2 months every year. Starting April 1st and ending May 31st, all dogs must be under direct control of their owners when off their property. As a reminder, dogs must be leashed year-round on any County property and in parks (other than inside fenced areas of dog parks).

There is one week left to register to vote for the 2026 April Special Election. The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is April 14. The April Special Election will occur on April 21, 2026, with all precincts open from 6 AM to 7 PM.
