There was a FULL HOUSE today at the Pace Building learning about Herbs from Master Gardener, Mayra Guisinger. We learned how to grow herbs, freeze herbs, dehydrate herbs, and store herbs. We tasted herbs and spices and made granola and refreshing drinks that highlighted herbs. We also made a Greek dip with olives, feta, and pepperoncini, and of course, fresh oregano that we ate with our sour dough bread. We even minced herbs and added them to our butter that we spread on top of the sourdough biscuits. Everyone left with a sourdough starter in hopes that they will make their own bread in a week.

We recommend using herbs to flavor your food instead of salt. A giant thank you to Mayra and Elsie Lacy, County Agent Caldwell, and Dru Benavides, County Agent Guadalupe, and Gayle Bludau, County Agent Gonzales for presenting today.

EXCITED ABOUT HEALTH! Ellie, Jack, Sam, and Abby, showed over 54 children how to make a healthy parfait today. They proved that healthy does taste good! So proud of their passion for health and their desire to share knowledge with others. The children at Waelder ISD love when this gang comes to their school because they know there will be plenty of laughter and fun while they learn healthy food facts!

So proud of these young men for being present at this event and building awareness! Great Job Brody and Christopher!
