Gonzales USD's CTE Department proudly recognizes senior Brandy Ochoa-Valdez as our CTE Student of the Year, honoring his outstanding commitment to academics, career readiness, and community involvement. Brandy has participated in three CTE pathways at GHS—Careers in Education and Patient Care, Design, Visual and Media Arts—gaining hands-on experience as a student intern at La Gloria Elementary, studying sports medicine, and contributing creatively to the yearbook.

He recently represented the school at the SkillsUSA Region 2 competition in Early Childhood Education, demonstrating professionalism and passion for working with children. Brandy plans to pursue aerospace engineering and hopes to return to his community one day to support future students through an Engineering Club.

On the evening of Thursday, May 7, Mr. Ochoa-Valdez and other Monterey County high school nominees will be recognized at the annual Mission Trails ROP Awards Ceremony. In addition, his accomplishments will be highlighted in two press releases in The Californian and The Herald during May, and he will receive certificates from our Senate representatives.

We would like to congratulate Brandy on this achievement and wish him much success in his future endeavors!

It is with profound excitement that we share our Spartan Boys Basketball team has qualified for CCS Playoffs!

The game will take place on Friday, February 20, at 7pm at the GHS Gym against KIPP San Jose Collegiate.

This is a CCS-sponsored event. Only CCS passes, and GoFan tickets only will be accepted. Unfortunately, school, faculty, and league passes will not be accepted.

Please consider supporting the team by attending the game, as a portion of the proceeds is shared with the school. The game will also 🏀be live-streamed on the NFHS Network website.

🎅🚒 **Santa Comes to La Gloria Elementary!** 🎄✨

Guess who made a surprise stop at La Gloria Elementary School? Santa Claus himself! 🎁🎉 And in true VIP style, he arrived riding with our amazing local fire department 🚒 (because even Santa knows the safest ride in town!).

Students were full of smiles, holiday cheer, and a few very important wish-list reminders 😉. A huge thank you to our firefighters for helping make this magical visit happen and reminding us all that heroes come in many uniforms—sometimes even with a red suit and white beard!

The Gonzales High School Boys Cross Country Team captured the Division Championship after months of hard work, consistency, and commitment. From late afternoon practices to tough competitions, this group demonstrated resilience, leadership, and true Spartan pride every step of the way!
