As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we’d like to thank Sheriff Bobby Webre for adding these commemorative wraps in recognition of this special anniversary.

This past week, Cpl. Benoit Michaux had the honor of representing the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office during D-Day commemorations in Normandy, France.

While visiting the Normandy American Cemetery, Cpl. Michaux paid tribute to Cpl. Edmond Elisar, an Ascension Parish native who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II. As a gesture of remembrance and respect, he left an APSO challenge coin at Elisar’s gravesite.

During his visit, Cpl. Michaux also met with local leaders in Arromanches, one of the key locations of the Allied invasion where an artificial harbor was constructed to support the liberation of Europe.

From Omaha Beach and Utah Beach to the American Cemetery overlooking the shores where history was made, this visit served as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.

We are proud of Cpl. Michaux for representing our agency, our parish, and our nation while honoring the heroes who came before us.

Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit have arrested two men in connection with a violent assault that left one victim unconscious and hospitalized.

Luis Olivas, 38, of Prairieville was charged with:
• Principal to Second Degree Battery
• Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle
• Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gang Activity
• Simple Assault
• Disturbing the Peace

Anthony "Papoose" Gregoire, 38, of Prairieville was charged with:
• Second Degree Battery
• Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gang Activity

On May 29, 2026, deputies responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot along Oak Plaza Avenue in Gonzales. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim suffering from serious head injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

During their investigation, detectives learned the victim was attempting to move his vehicle to another parking area when one of the suspects entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. As the victim tried to stop the theft, he was attacked by two male suspects. During the assault, the victim was knocked unconscious and struck his head on the ground. The suspects then assaulted a second victim who attempted to intervene and stop the attack.

Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspects as Olivas and Gregoire. Both men are members of the Sons of Silence Motorcycle Club. Arrest warrants were obtained for both suspects. On Monday, June 8, Olivas and Gregoire turned themselves in and were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

APSO Detective Receives Statewide Negotiator of the Year Award:

Congratulations to Detective Laura Mueller on being named the recipient of the Louisiana Association of Crisis Negotiators' "Tracy Morgan" Negotiator of the Year Award.

Detective Mueller is the first recipient of the award since it was renamed in honor of Louisiana State Trooper and crisis negotiator Sergeant Tracy Morgan.

Detective Mueller received the statewide honor for her outstanding work during a critical incident involving a barricaded and suicidal individual. Through patience, professionalism, and compassion, she helped bring a highly volatile situation to a peaceful resolution and ultimately helped save a life.

We are incredibly proud of Detective Mueller and this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for representing the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office with excellence.
