Join Bookvan at the Edible Campus Student Farm this Friday, September 4th from 2-4pm.

UCSB's Associated Students Department of Public Worms and Goleta Valley Library Bookvan are teaming up to host this free event for all ages.

Get a library card, check out books, make a pressed flower bookmark, or just read and explore in the garden.

The Student Farm is located next to the Orfalea Family Children's Center (West Campus Point Ln, Isla Vista). See map below.

🎨 Calling all artists! The 5th Annual is back!
Celebrate Creek Week (Sept. 19–26) and Goleta’s local waterways with an original work inspired by this year’s theme: “History Beneath the Surface: Art Inspired by Our Creeks, Oceans & Watersheds.”
All ages and skill levels are welcome! Photography, painting, drawing, collage and more are encouraged. One original artwork per participant.
📅 Deadline: Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 4PM
📍 Goleta Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave.
Artwork will be on public display Sept. 11–30. Join us for the Creek Week Art Reception on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5:30–7PM to hear about the importance of our local waterways, enjoy live music and refreshments, and discover the contest winners!

Celebra la Semana del Arroyo (19–26 de septiembre) y los cuerpos de agua locales de Goleta con una obra original inspirada en el tema de este año: “Historia Bajo la Superficie: Arte Inspirado en Nuestros Arroyos, Océanos y Cuencas Hidrográficas”.

Senior Happy Hour attendees made flower headbands yesterday to celebrate Fiesta!

This group meets on the first Thursday of the month from 2:00-3:30 at the Goleta Community Center (5679 Hollister Ave, Goleta).

Their next meeting will be Thursday, September 3.

This event is FREE and open to all ages.

📚☀️ Read-A-Palooza 2026 wrapped up on July 31 after nine weeks of reading, activities, performances, and summer fun throughout the Goleta & Santa Ynez Valley Libraries!

This year’s Summer Reading Program celebrated an incredible community effort:
📖 44,458 days of reading logged
🌞 2,533 Super Sunshine Awards earned by kids who read all seven days in a week
🎨 Nearly 6,000 activities completed
🎉 730 more participants than last year

Families explored new ways to participate while building lifelong reading habits. Free summer events included hula shows, science lessons, concerts, movies, and reptile visits throughout the community.

Thank you to our amazing teen volunteers for contributing 950 hours of service, and to our generous sponsors and Friends of the Library groups for making this program possible!

🎟️ GVL Express patrons can redeem tickets for the Grand Prize Drawings through Friday, August 7. Keep visiting your library year-round for more books and resources!
