Wayne County Public Schools This page is for WCPS to share good news with the community, and welcome the community to connect with us.

Located in southeastern North Carolina, Wayne County Public Schools is the 21st largest school district in the state with 33 schools and approximately 19,000 students grades K-13. The Wayne County Board of Education was organized in 1872. Over the past 144 years our school district has grown to approximately 3,000 employees, making us the second largest employer in Wayne County. Our schools offer a rigorous academic program, with a broad range of academic services and options tailored to today’s learner.

A new chapter begins! 🎉✂️

This week, WCPS celebrated the ribbon cutting for the new Rosewood Middle School—a historic milestone that represents an investment in our students, our educators, and the future of Wayne County.

Like the former school building that served the community for over a century, the new Rosewood Middle will provide a place for students to learn, grow, explore new opportunities, and build a foundation for success for generations to come.

We are grateful to our NC legislators, local elected officials, district staff, community partners, and everyone whose support helped make this vision a reality!

🎡 The wait is finally over, and the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair is underway!

As you enjoy the rides, food, exhibits and entertainment, be sure to take the time to see the incredible work (and talent!) of our students, including student artwork, CTE exhibits and agricultural displays.

Over the next week and a half, hundreds of our students will also take to the stage, cheer mat and other event venues to compete in the various fair competitions. We hope you’ll join us in cheering them on!

We can’t wait to see you at the fair! 🎨🔧🏆
