Wayne County NC Environmental Health Food and Lodging Department The purpose of the Environmental Health Program is to prevent the spread of preventable communicable diseases through the enforcement of state rules.

Wayne County Environmental Health Department inspects: restaurants, food stands, mobile food units, push carts, nursing homes buildings and kitchens, school buildings and cafeterias, child care centers, hotels, public swimming pools, and tattoo parlors. The Environmental Health Department also issues septic and well permits.
