Congratulations to Councilmember Chris Boyette on receiving the NC League of Municipalities Certificate of Municipal Dedication through the Advancing Municipal Leaders certification program.

Boyette accepted the award this week during the CityVision Conference in recognition of completing 40 hours of professional training through NCLM. This achievement reflects his strong commitment to continued professional development and excellence in public service.

May 3-9 is Professional Municipal Clerks Week. This week is a time to celebrate and show appreciation to all municipal and deputy clerks for the services with which they provide their communities. Clerks serve as the professional link between residents, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels.

As we celebrate Professional Municipal Clerks Week, we honor our amazing clerks — City Clerk Laura Getz and Deputy Clerk Sakeithia Reece. You ladies are the glue that keeps it all together!

We honor the life and legacy of Jack Best, a true champion for Wayne County and a visionary leader in regional economic development.

Jack’s impact reaches far beyond titles or service. He was instrumental in shaping the foundation of our Economic Development Region and played a key role in advancing progress at the North Carolina Global TransPark. His leadership, dedication, and belief in the potential of Eastern North Carolina helped create opportunities that will benefit our communities for generations to come.

More than his accomplishments, Jack will be remembered for the way he led - with integrity, purpose, and a genuine commitment to the people he served. He understood that strong communities are built through collaboration, vision, and hard work, and he embodied those values every day.

We are incredibly grateful for the lasting impact he made on our organization, our region, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

His legacy will continue to guide us.

🚨 Public Safety Summer Camp is Coming! 🚓🚒

We’re excited to announce that we are joining forces with the City of Goldsboro Fire Department for the 2026 Public Safety Summer Camp. This camp will be held July 20–24 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day! This free week-long camp gives youth the opportunity to experience the world of public safety firsthand.

Throughout the week, campers will learn about the fire service, law enforcement, and other aspects of emergency response through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and team challenges. It’s a great opportunity to meet the professionals who serve our community every day and get a behind-the-scenes look at the teamwork and training that keeps our community safe.

📅 Camp Dates: July 20–24
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day
😎 Ages: 8 - 14 years old
💲 Cost: Free

Due to the popularity of this program, participants will be selected through a lottery process.

📢 Those selected will be notified by mid-April
