Thank you City of Goldsboro for the recognition!

During its Feb. 3 meeting, the Goldsboro City Council presented a proclamation in honor of Black History Month, declaring that "Black History Month is a time for all Americans to remember the stories and teachings of those who helped build our nation, advanced the cause of civil rights, and strengthened families and communities."

This community roundtable is part of the ongoing effort to address violence throughout the city.

We answered the invitation to join in with celebrating the Communities Supporting Schools' ArtXecute program one year anniversary on last week. We were especially proud of CCRD Member Nicol Lofton for the recognition she received for working so diligently with our youth in this program. Keep up the needed work Nicol!

We appreciated the opportunity to join in with the Reentry Council of Wayne County to share information about the CCRD at Saturday's NC Freedom Fest. We sincerely appreciate our military and first responders and were honored to have been apart in celebrating them!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Human Relations workshop hosted by the City of Wilson's Human Relations Department on last Wednesday evening. Mr. Gene Troy, Human Relations Program Manager for the State, did an excellent job sharing relations issues and how commissions can address those issues. We also enjoyed the grilling skills of Wilson's Human Relations Director, Mr. BJ Woodard.
