As Affordable Housing Month comes to a close, the work in Jefferson County never stops.

We know that access to safe, stable, and affordable housing is essential to the health, well-being, and economic vitality of Jefferson County residents and communities.

That's why the Board of County Commissioners wants to highlight the 15-Year Housing Strategic Plan. It outlines strategies to increase housing availability, address hurdles, support residents at risk of displacement or homelessness, and strengthen partnerships that advance long-term housing solutions.

This rain, rain isn't here to stay, even if it comes again another day, we're still in a drought.

As Colorado heads into the hottest season of the year, it enters summer with the worst snowpack since records began in 1941. By the end of April, much of Colorado was in at least severe drought.

In this episode of the Engage Jeffco Podcast, we chat with Bethany Howell, associate director for the Colorado Water Center, about what drought means for our communities and how Jefferson County residents can prepare right now for the hot, dry weather.

History came alive at South Table Mountain Park on Tuesday, May 26, with the grand opening of the T. rex Tooth Trail!

This new 1.5-mile natural surface trail connects with Fossil Trail, Old Quarry Trail, and Basalt Cap Loop to create a scenic 3-mile loop packed with prehistoric and historic significance. The trail is named after the first known T. rex tooth discovered in North America, originally found in this area in 1874. Visitors can also see the historic Colorado Amphitheater and enjoy new interpretive signage highlighting the area’s fascinating past.
The ribbon-cutting celebration featured Commissioners Dahlkemper, Kerr, and Zenzinger—plus two surprise T. rex visitors who helped make the event extra memorable! Thank you to all our staff who made this trail and event happen

Commissioner Kerr: Building a Welcoming Community in Jeffco

"It’s not about politics or division, and in fact it’s quite the opposite: making sure everyone who lives or works here feels like they belong. For many of us, this effort flows naturally from a simple belief: when people feel safe and seen, our community is stronger."
