Another unhealthy air quality day is in the forecast.
If you’ve been spending a lot of time outside lately, today and tomorrow are good days to slow down and give your lungs a break. Move workouts or outdoor activities indoors when possible and keep an eye out for symptoms like coughing, trouble breathing or headaches.
Air quality can change throughout the day, so continue checking local alerts before heading outside. https://www.jeffco.us/2331/Air-Quality

We have received reports that several people may have picked up or touched an injured bat Sunday, June 14, 2026, around 1:30 p.m. near the Evergreen Lake Trailhead. The bat was later gone and could not be tested for rabies.

Because the bat cannot be tested, anyone who touched the bat may have been exposed to rabies. If you or someone you know touched the bat, call or visit your healthcare provider or an urgent care as soon as possible.

If you see an animal that looks injured or sick, contact your local animal control agency for help.

Air quality will be unhealthy for some groups tomorrow. Pollution in the air can affect everyone, especially children, older adults and people with asthma or other lung conditions.
Spend less time outside tomorrow, especially for hard exercise or long outdoor activities. If you need to be outside, take more breaks and pay attention to how you’re feeling.
Keep windows closed if possible and check on anyone who may be more sensitive to poor air quality.
___

Summer trips are more fun when health surprises do not come along for the ride.

Before your family heads out, take a few minutes to plan for health the same way you plan flights, snacks and sunscreen. A little prep now can help prevent bigger problems later. www.jeffco.us/2104/Immunizations

Some summer heroes wear capes. Others put the cold food back where the ice lives. ❄️

Before your next cookout, picnic or backyard snack situation, remember the basics: clean hands and surfaces, separate raw foods from ready-to-eat foods, cook foods to a safe temperature and chill leftovers before they get suspicious. www.jeffco.us/2408/Food-Safety

Mice and rats can spread germs, even if you never touch them.😬
The best way to lower your risk is to keep them out of the places where you live, work, park and store things.

A few small fixes now can help prevent a bigger problem later. Learn more: www.jeffco.us/hantavirus
-----------
