Are you stuck on how to make your landscape shine – or just need some inspiration? Good landscape design is an artform, but there are some practical, common-sense tips that should be considered when planning your landscape. Join horticulturist, Donna DiFrancesco, who after years of observing landscapes, will provide her favorite tips and ideas to get you excited about creating a beautiful, cohesive, and thriving landscape. She’ll also share her favorite resources that will give you the confidence to move forward on what often seems like a daunting task – renovating or installing a new landscape.

Learning Objectives:
- Principals of Xeriscape landscaping
- How to define your landscape style or theme
- How to develop a plan for a new landscape or a renovation
- Best plant selection ideas
- How to hire a professional to help

Speaker: Master Gardener Donna DiFrancesco
Donna DiFrancesco is a Horticulturist and Conservation Coordinator with the City of Mesa Environmental & Sustainability Division where she educates Mesa residents about Xeriscape, water conservation, living green, and sustainability. Prior to taking her position at the City in 1997, she worked as a Horticulture Program Coordinator for the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension and as a Revegetation Ecologist (overseeing maintenance of arid landscapes) for the Flood Control District of Maricopa County. She dreams of someday taking on a superhero persona as Xeriscape Woman, wearing a large “X” on her chest, and carrying an ironwood branch magic wand that will turn dull, grassy lawns into beautiful Xeriscapes.
