Our Sky Valley Fire Firefighters completed live fire training today! We were able to simulate 5 different interior fires with coordinated fire attack and search for victims. Thank you to Skykomish Fire Department for joining us today! We are fortunate to have our own burn prop located at Station 54 to conduct this training, Great job everyone!

The 2025 ESTA Recruit Academy Application Period will open on December 1, 2024. Approximate cost for non affiliated students will be $2500 for supplies and tuition, $1000 for SCBA and Bunker Gear rental and $500 in uniform supplies. Class is expected to start in early March and finish in late June.

Students will be taught the following areas

Firefighter 1 and 2

Hazmat Awareness and Operations

Technical Rescue Awareness

NWCG Wildland Firefighter 2

This week ESTA recruits are are running their 48 hour simulated shift where they'll find themselves putting all the skills they've learned in their ESTA EMT academy and Fire Academy to the test. If you see them out in the community training feel free to stop and say hello!

A great day training up the next generation of 24 Wildland firefighters from Sky Valley Fire Lake Roesiger Fire Department, Snohomish County Fire District 5 and Skykomish Fire Department! As weather is getting warmer and dryer, these new firefighters will be put to work before you know it protecting communities throughout Snohomish county and beyond. Great job, and thank you to our awesome Cadre!

Weeks 3 & 4 in the books! Students learned how to manage and move fire hose and all about building construction then finished up the week by building a mini house they will use to study ventilation later on in the academy.

Week 5 begins and 14 recruits remain and are ready to learn all about fire service ladders and how we can most quickly and efficiently deploy them.

ESTA Recruit school 2024-01 is underway!

Our 24-01 students come from multiple departments in the area and will undergo 4 months of rigorous training, evaluations and tests with instructors from all over Washington State as well as Oregon and Texas!

Week 1&2 students were issued all PPE and are taught about the importance of discipline, attention to detail and proper use of PPE. Some other topics include Fitness, nutrition, mental health, cancer risk reduction, importance of sleep and the history and traditions of the American fire service.

We started with 20 and beginning week 3, 15 find themselves in the mental and physical grind of Engine operations!

Today our ESTA recruits are joined with firefighters from Lake Roesiger Fire Department in completing their Initial Wildland Firefighter Training. At the end of the day we hope to have 19 more Wildland Firefighters certified to assist with wildfires locally and around the western states!
