Mark your calendars for a visit with Author Robert Perreault on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. Robert will discuss his first English novel, “Courtship in Purgatory.”

"'Courtship in Purgatory' takes an intimate look at the difficulties faced by two middle-aged lovers in a fictional New Hampshire mill town. Bound by tradition, torn by love, 'Courtship in Purgatory' is a sincere look back at family and Franco-American traditional attitudes and constraints following World War II."

Robert B. Perreault is a bilingual writer, mostly of nonfiction about the New England Franco-American experience and the history of his hometown, Manchester, New Hampshire. He has authored seven books and over 175 articles published in the United States, French Canada, and France.

A library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes!

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, celebrate and discover how a single card can tune into whatever inspires you next. This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” reminds us that libraries offer something for everyone. Whether you're diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills, or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card. If you already have a card, spread the word and invite friends or family members to sign up for their own and to discover what the library can offer them.

This month, we have something special for you-
✺ Need to replace your lost library card? During September, we will replace your missing GPL card and waive the $2.00 replacement fee. Stop in and start reading again!
✺ Attention new cardholders, we have a challenge with prizes! When you get your new library card in September, you'll receive an entry form with all the details - complete 4/5 challenges for a chance to win one of four gift cards to a local business. 🥳

The library's upper parking lot will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 1, through Thursday, September 3, while Goffstown DPW begins work in preparation for the upcoming paving project. Library visitors may park in the lower lot during this phase. Later this month, next steps will encompass the reclaiming and repaving of both the upper and lower parking lots. Additional details will be posted as they become available to us.

Additional parking is available at Town Hall, at the municipal lots on School Street and next to the town Common, on-street parking in the Village, and street parking on the even side of High Street. Parking in the TD Bank lot adjacent to the Library is only for bank customers.

Wow! So far this summer, gardeners have dropped off over 30 pounds of produce at the library for the Grow a Row program. 🍅 Thank you!

When you donate the extra row of your favorite vegetables from your garden, your surplus helps stock the Goffstown Network Food Pantry with healthy, fresh food for our neighbors in need. Drop off your surplus produce at the Library or the Goffstown Network's Food Pantry during business hours.
