Summer doesn’t have to mean being busy every second.

After a long school year, it’s okay to slow down a little.

Sleep in sometimes.
Get outside.
Take breaks from scrolling.
Spend time with people who help you feel like yourself.
Do things that help you recharge—not just perform.

At Rebels United, we want students to know that rest is not weakness and taking care of yourself is not something you have to “earn.”

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is pause, breathe, and reset.

Small moments of care really do matter.

CredibleMind offers free, private mental wellness resources for teens, parents, and caregivers related to stress, emotional wellness, anxiety, sleep, relationships, and more.

Big changes can bring big emotions.

As the school year wraps up and graduation season begins, a lot of students are carrying more than people realize.

Excitement. Pressure. Relief. Uncertainty. Hope. Stress about what comes next.

And sometimes all of those feelings show up at the same time.

At Rebels United, we want students to know:
You don’t have to have everything figured out right now.

This season isn’t about being perfect. It’s about continuing to grow, staying connected, and remembering that your value is bigger than grades, plans, or expectations.

Check in with yourself.
Talk to someone you trust.
Take things one step at a time.

Small moments of support and connection matter more than most people realize.

CredibleMind offers free, private mental wellness resources for teens, parents, and caregivers related to stress, emotional wellness, anxiety, transitions, relationships, and more.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice reminds us that courage is not only found in words, but in a willingness to protect and serve others — even at great personal cost.

At Rebels United, we believe strong communities are built through connection, support, and caring for one another. Today we are especially grateful for those who gave everything for the freedoms we often take for granted.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
— John 15:13

May we remember their sacrifice with gratitude and humility.

There are moments in life that feel ordinary while we are living them. And then one day… you look back. And you realize those moments were never ordinary at all.

That’s what I keep thinking about as I watch the Class of 2026 cross the finish line.

A meeting after school. A ride home after an event. A food pantry box filled one can at a time. Painting little faces with rainbows and butterflies at the homecoming fair. A laugh shared too loudly in the overcrowded art room where we gathered to make plans and dream out loud. A hand extended to someone sitting alone. A difficult conversation in the chair next to Mrs. Kinslow’s desk. A brave choice, made even when it was hard. A group of young people deciding, again and again, to show up for each other.

Not to be perfect. To be shaped…challenge after challenge, choice after choice into people who keep going, keep trying, keep walking toward something worth building.

And they built something.

Through RISE, these students stood against Big To***co. They helped drive real policy change around va**ng. They filled food pantries ..sooooo many food pantries. They created events that welcomed people in. They showed their community what leadership actually looks like. Not polished, not perfect. Real. The kind built slowly and consistently. Brick by stubborn brick (the good kind). Person by person.

What they created reaches further than posters, meetings, campaigns, or policy. They created belonging. They created connection. They built spaces where people felt safer. Seen. Needed. Loved.

This is what prevention looks like and it’s worth saying out loud.

It looks like laughter in a crowded room. It looks like having somewhere to go. Someone to text. Someone who notices when you’ve gone quiet. It looks like purpose. Community. Joy. These students pushed back against loneliness. Against silence. Against the idea that people have to carry hard things alone. They reminded people… sometimes without even realizing it … that they matter.

To the Class of 2026:

You may not fully understand yet what you’ve set in motion. But someday you’ll look back at a sunset on the football field, a room full of people who showed up because of something you built, and you’ll know. The Rebels still have a long way to go … we all do. This work is never finished. It’s a cycle meant to be continued, handed off, carried forward.

But if hope looks like anything… it looks like you.

It looks like young people choosing goodness when the world gives them reasons not to. It looks like courage. It looks like kindness. It looks like showing up. It looks like students standing shoulder to shoulder at sunset, caps flying(🥹)…arms wrapped around one another not fully understanding yet that they are becoming the people who will shape what comes next.

PSA to the adults watching:

Parents. Teachers. Coaches. Community members. Protect these moments. Grow them. Young people are not problems to solve. They are possibilities waiting to be believed in. Listen to them. Lift their voices. Help them understand that kindness is not weakness, that leadership doesn’t require perfection, and that change begins quietly with one person, then another, then another …. until mountains move.

Communities are not built by programs. They are built by people who keep choosing one another.

So keep going. Keep caring. Keep building.

The world needs what you carry. More than you know.

We are so grateful and proud.

🤍

Not every tough day means something is “wrong.”

Sometimes teens are simply overwhelmed, overstimulated, exhausted, stressed, disconnected, or carrying more than adults realize.

That’s why small check-ins matter.

A break from scrolling.
Getting outside.
Talking to someone you trust.
Doing something creative.
Taking a breath before things build up.

Mental health support doesn’t always start with a crisis. Often, it starts with small moments of care, connection, and reminding young people they matter beyond grades, performance, or expectations.

At Rebels United, we want students to know:
You don’t have to navigate everything alone.

Grades matter.

But they are never the full story of a young person.

Behind grades and performance, many teens are also carrying stress, anxiety, pressure, self-doubt, loneliness, or uncertainty about the future.

That’s why support matters.

A trusted adult. A good friend. A conversation. A reminder that your value is bigger than a test score or a GPA.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want students to know:
You are more than your performance. You matter.

Over the past couple of days, our Rebels United team had the opportunity to be part of the Montana Institute’s Positive Community Norms training while reviewing our newest 2026 student survey data from DGF Schools.

And honestly… the results gave us every reason to celebrate.

95% of DGF students report NOT va**ng in the past 30 days.
95% report NOT using ma*****na.
92% report NOT drinking alcohol in a typical month.

Even more encouraging, students’ perceptions of the norm improved significantly this year.

That matters because Positive Community Norms is about helping students recognize something important:

Most teens are already making healthy choices.

And our Rebels United students continue to help lead that culture every single day through encouragement, leadership, positivity, inclusion, and showing younger students that you do not need substances to belong or have fun.

We are incredibly proud of this group and grateful for every student, parent, educator, and community member helping make this work possible.

Most teens are making healthier choices than we think. ❤️

You betcha. 🤍

Today I spent the day at Positive Community Norms training reviewing data from communities across the region… including ours. 👀 And DGF? You changed the culture.
And guess what the data said?! Over the past few years, the perceptions have shifted. Students stopped believing the myth that “everyone is doing it” and when that belief changed, the behavior followed. That’s not an accident. That’s YOU, building something real. I’m so incredibly proud of this community.
⚡ 92% of DGF students DON’T drink alcohol in a typical month
⚡ 95% DON’T use ma*****na
⚡ 95% DON’T v**e or use e-cigarettes
This community is more connected, more honest, and more hopeful than it was all because students decided to be. 👏🥹
I drove around today soaking in what this work has done…and saw this mural and thought ….yeah. Of course. You betcha.
Keep being the norm. 🫶

What happens when young people are supported, connected, and reminded that healthy choices are normal?

Moments like this.

This week, Rebels United celebrated student leaders who have helped create a culture where fun, friendship, leadership, and belonging don’t depend on substance use.

These students are helping shape the next generation of positive community culture — and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

Thank you to the families, schools, staff, and community members who continue supporting these students along the way. ❤️

Most teens are making healthier choices than we think.
