An incredible piece of baseball history now has a home in Gloversville!

Today, the Parkhurst Field Foundation celebrated the extraordinary donation of the Stanley Harry Silver Collection, featuring more than 1,100 autographed baseballs dating back to the late 1800s, along with an extensive collection of World Series and All-Star Game programs.

The collection was built over a lifetime by Stanley Silver and inspired by the love of baseball he shared with his father, Harry. Through the generosity of Stanley and the Silver family, these treasured pieces of baseball history will be preserved for future generations and ultimately displayed at the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame here in Gloversville.

As part of today’s celebration, Mayor Gary Antonucci presented a proclamation on behalf of the City of Gloversville recognizing Stanley Silver and the Silver family for their extraordinary donation to the Parkhurst Field Foundation and their commitment to preserving baseball history for generations to come.

We are grateful to the Silver family for entrusting this remarkable collection to the Parkhurst Field Foundation and proud to see another chapter in Gloversville’s rich baseball history take shape right here in our community.

We at the City of Gloversville were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Matt Capano and would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by his loss.

Matt was a familiar face in our downtown and someone who cared deeply about the Gloversville community. As a local business owner who also gave his time and energy to various community boards and projects, he was passionate about the city he called home.

His loss has been felt by many throughout our community.

Mayor Gary Antonucci, the Gloversville Common Council and all members of City Hall extend their deepest sympathies to Matt’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with all those who knew and loved him.

Today, we remember.

A ceremony was held this morning at the Gloversville Fire Department in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Members of our community gathered alongside representatives from the City of Gloversville, Gloversville Fire Department, Gloversville Police Department and other City departments to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of September 11.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their lives, their courage and their sacrifice.

We will never forget.
