I did a thing Sunday. I made my way to the post to say hello to whoever was there. Dave and Leanne Lowry came into see me. That made me feel special. Saw a few of the Veteran riders.. Saw Don Tellock. Met newer post members. And was there to see two newbies join as life members. I stayed for a couple of hours and realized how much I miss that place. To the Yetzer family, your dad, Jerry, is still shining behind the bar, and beside him is a place of honor for Hank (it's a crappy bottle of liquor he left behind but post members drink a shot from it every year in his memory. He likely rolls with laughter as they ingest the rot gut). Post 8252 truly is the best post ever. I need to get out there more often.. AND THERE'S WI-FI NOW!!!

Thank you to the men and woman who signed on the dotted line to serve and protect our great nation. Wear your service like the badge of honor that it is! We are proud of you!

On this Veterans Day, I want all veterans to know that “Every Veteran Counts.” That phrase is my guiding slogan during my year as VFW’s Commander-in-Chief, and that message is never more relevant on a day set aside for all Americans to reflect and be thankful for those who have worn the nation...

It is with heavy heart that we share word that Theresa Yetzer passed from her Earthly bounds to join her husband Jerry Yetzer, and his cohort in crime Hank Marquette, in the Heavens above.

If you ever you had opportunity to be at the post while Jerry tended bar or held court while someone else did, you most likely met and talked with the love of his life Terry. They were a match made in heaven.

Please keep their family in your prayers as they navigate this uncharted territory.

Terry, give Jerry and Hank huge hugs for us!

We'll see you when our chores are through.

Army Master Sgt. Henry Erwin suffered horrific burns while saving his bomber crew from almost certain death in a midair accident during World War II, heroic actions that earned him the Medal of Honor.
