Grace Center benefits enormously from its dedicated volunteers. To celebrate the volunteerism that boosts this program every day, we are beginning a series that will profile and acknowledge some of our longest serving volunteers.

We begin with the dynamic duo of Maureen Oโ€™Kelly and her husband Michael Kassner, commonly referred to as โ€œM&M.โ€

M&M have been volunteering at the Grace Center since 2012 after hearing about the new program from their friend Anita.

Maureen studied English & Irish literature and loved her 33 years of teaching in Boston, Cambridge, and Rockport. In addition to her career as an educator, Maureen has spent 22 years as a bereavement counselor for Care Dimensions in Danvers. Maureen is an attentive and active listener and she has built an enduring rapport with many of our guests.

Michael is a retired civil engineer. He worked in sales for Ingersoll Rand, a Boston-based manufacturing company, and is a proud father and outdoorsman, often returning to his home state of Wisconsin to hunt and fish with his U. Wisconsin college buddies. Michael finds his volunteer commitment stimulating and enjoys playing cribbage with our guests.

M&M love to travel and find adventure. They proudly boast about their 58-day transcontinental camping trip from Rockport, MA to Alaska in a Ford Explorer along with their beloved Golden Retriever.

Thank you for all of your support and all of the adventures, M&M!
