INVESTIGATORS ARREST WANTED FUGITIVES WITH NARCOTICS AND FI****MS

On June 2, 2026, Gloucester County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to make contact with Mr. Gage Coppola at the request of the Radford Police Department in reference to an outstanding Radford Circuit Court warrant for contempt of court. Gloucester narcotics investigators had information about Mr. Coppola’s current address, and they responded with patrol deputies in an attempt to locate him.

When the deputies and investigators attempted the warrant service in the 5300 block of Cranny Creek Drive, they developed information that Mr. Coppola was inside the residence. Despite multiple orders for him to come outside, Mr. Coppola initially refused to exit the dwelling. Multiple other people came out of the house as the deputies instructed, and Mr. Coppola eventually exited as well and was taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Jesse Randall Phelps, one of the other occupants of the house, was also taken into custody due to multiple outstanding warrants.

Based on probable cause developed during these arrests, investigators obtained a search warrant for the house. Upon ex*****on of that warrant, a large quantity of narcotics was located, along with multiple fi****ms, ammunition, US currency, counterfeit currency, and narcotics paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation and evidence recovered, Gage Lee Coppola, a 25-year-old resident of the 5300 block of Cranny Creek Drive, was charged with:

Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl
Possession of a Firearm with Controlled Substances (6 counts)
Possession of a Firearm without a Serial Number (2 counts)
Possession or Use of a Sawed-Off Shotgun
Possession of 10 or more Counterfeit or Forged Bills

Mr. Coppola is being held in the Northern Neck Regional Jail without bond.

Jesse Randall Phelps, a 38-year-old resident of the same address, was served with an outstanding felony capias and felony probation violation from the Gloucester Circuit Court, as well as an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for brandishing a firearm in York County. He is also being held in the Northern Neck Regional Jail without bond.

Photographs of both individuals arrested and of items seized from the residence are attached to this release. There is no further information available to disseminate at this time.

GLOUCESTER DEPUTIES APPREHEND WANTED SUBJECTS FROM OTHER JURISDICTIONS

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at approximately 2:53pm, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office investigators were contacted by detectives from the Surry County Sheriff's Office in reference to attempting to locate a wanted Gloucester resident. The Surry County detectives advised that they held multiple arrest warrants, including abduction, malicious wounding, and child neglect for James Luisan West (aka James Lawson West), a 42-year-old resident of the 3300 block of Woodside Street in Hayes.

At approximately the same time, deputies were alerted that Mr. West was operating a vehicle in the Hayes area and was possibly heading to Surry County. Within minutes, deputies located the vehicle in the area of George Washington Memorial Highway and Fields Landing Road. When a traffic stop was attempted, Mr. West stopped his vehicle near Fields Landing Road but was not immediately compliant. He brandished a knife and refused deputies’ commands to surrender, but deputies were able to successfully deploy a TASER device and take Mr. West into custody with him suffering only minor injuries. No deputies were injured during this arrest.

Mr. West was transported from the scene and is currently being held in the Northern Neck Regional Jail.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 8:37am, deputies utilizing FLOCK ALPR technology were notified of a stolen vehicle being driven on George Washington Memorial Highway in the White Marsh area of the county. The vehicle, a GMC pickup truck, was reported as being stolen from Mathews County.

Deputies canvassed the area and observed the stolen vehicle turning onto Fields Landing Road. A traffic stop was conducted in the 6900 block of Fields Landing Road and the driver, 61-year-old Ryan Vernard Jarvis of the 300 block of Kevin Court in Newport News, was taken into custody without incident due to an outstanding Mathews County warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the victim in Mathews County, and Mr. Jarvis was transported to the Gloucester County Jail.

Photographs of Mr. West and Mr. Jarvis are attached to this release. As both of these cases stemmed from incidents in other jurisdictions, there is no further information available for release.
