Trash talk, but make it useful. 🗑️♻️

Gloucester’s new trash and recycling system is coming October 1, and yes, there are questions.

DPW Director Mike Hale breaks down what you actually need to know: why the city is making the switch, what the $300 annual fee covers, how those new carts will work on Gloucester’s very narrow streets, options for smaller carts and senior discounts, how to opt out, and even what to do with your old barrels.

Bottom line: New carts. New trucks. Same pickup day. A little adjustment period, and answers to some of the biggest questions residents have been asking. 🗑️

This National Nonprofit Day, we’re especially grateful for everyone who watches, participates in, shares, and supports the work we do at 1623 Studios. ❤️ Maybe you’ve spotted our cameras and crew at a local election, graduation, Town Meeting, or an event like St. Peter’s Fiesta. We’re proud to be there to document what’s happening across Cape Ann and make it accessible to local audiences.

As a nonprofit community media center, our work goes well beyond covering events. We provide access to media equipment and production resources, offer opportunities to learn and create, produce original local programming, and keep residents connected through our local TV channels and online platforms. Your support helps us continue providing a place for local voices, information, and stories to be shared across Cape Ann. Help us tell the next Cape Ann story by making a donation today! 🎥❤️
