Glenwood Police Department Scam Alert ⚠️
Recent storms have caused damage throughout our area, and unfortunately, scam artists often target homeowners during these times.
Please use caution if approached by contractors or companies offering immediate repair services. Before agreeing to any work or signing any contracts:
✅ Contact your insurance company first and follow their recommendations.
✅ Verify that the contractor is properly licensed and insured.
✅ Ask for references and check online reviews.
✅ Obtain written estimates from multiple companies before making a decision.
✅ Never feel pressured to sign a contract on the spot.
✅ Be cautious of anyone requesting large upfront payments or cash-only transactions.
🚨 If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Legitimate contractors understand that homeowners need time to review estimates, consult with their insurance company, and make informed decisions.
If you believe you have been contacted by a scammer or have concerns about a contractor’s practices, please contact the Glenwood Police Department.
Stay safe, and help protect your neighbors by sharing this information.
