🐾 June is National Foster a Pet Month! 🐾

Every year, thousands of animals enter shelters and rescues in need of a safe place to stay while they wait for their forever families. That’s where foster homes make all the difference.

When you foster, you’re not just providing food and shelter—you’re giving an animal a chance to relax, learn, grow, and experience love in a home environment. Whether it’s a litter of playful kittens, a dog recovering from surgery, or a shy pet learning to trust again, foster families help save lives.

At PCHS, our foster homes are an essential part of our mission. They allow us to care for more animals than we could within the shelter alone and help prepare pets for successful adoptions.

❤️ Why foster?
🐾 Save lives
🐾 Free up shelter space
🐾 Help pets learn and grow
🐾 Make a lasting impact in your community
🐾 Enjoy the rewards of helping an animal in need

Not sure if fostering is right for you? We provide support, guidance, and supplies for many of our foster animals. Whether you can foster for a few weeks or a few months, your time can make a world of difference.

$5 Friday: Help Us Say "Yes" 🐾

Meet Glasses.

When Glasses first came to us, he was in rough shape. A caring community member found him struggling and brought him to the vet for help. He was lethargic, not eating, shaking his head, and had eye discharge and cloudy eyes. He was severely underweight, dehydrated, and very wobbly on his feet.

After receiving veterinary care, Glasses was diagnosed with ear mites, lice, and a severe upper respiratory infection. He needed treatment, medications, good nutrition, and plenty of TLC to get back on his paws.

Today, Glasses is thriving. He's feeling better, gaining weight, showing off his personality, and patiently waiting for his forever home.

Stories like Glasses' are only possible because of your support. When animals arrive sick, injured, or neglected, donations allow us to say "yes" and provide the medical care they need, regardless of the cost.

For this $5 Friday, we're raising funds to help cover veterinary expenses for animals like Glasses. Every dollar donated helps ensure that the next animal who comes through our doors gets the same chance at a healthy future.

🐾💛 CAT SPOTLIGHT: LONGEST CAT RESIDENT — RAVEN 💛🐾

There are some animals who quietly wait their turn… and then there are those who wait far too long. Raven is one of those cats.

Raven is a beautiful black, medium-haired girl who has been at PCHS since 10/27/25, making her our longest resident still hoping for a forever home. Day after day, she watches other cats leave the shelter with their new families, while she remains—soft-eyed, patient, and just as loving as ever.

One of the biggest reasons Raven has been overlooked has nothing to do with her personality, and everything to do with something very simple: she requires a special veterinary prescription diet. It’s an easy, manageable part of her care, but for many potential adopters, it has unfortunately become a reason to keep scrolling past her. And because of that, the sweetest girl is still waiting.

But if you take away that one detail, what you find is a truly wonderful cat.

Raven is incredibly sweet and gentle, with a quiet charm that grows on you immediately. She has the softest little meows—barely more than a whisper—that she uses to greet you as if she’s been waiting just for you to walk by. She doesn’t demand attention, but she so deeply appreciates it when she receives it.

Her favorite moments are simple and peaceful: curling up in her cozy cat bed, watching birds flutter past the windows, and soaking in warm patches of sunlight like she’s savoring every second of comfort. She brings a calm, grounding presence wherever she is.

Here at the shelter, Raven has also shown she does well with other cats, comfortably sharing space and coexisting peacefully with her feline friends.

Staff describe her as a quiet treasure—easy to love, easy to miss if you’re not looking closely, but impossible to forget once you’ve spent time with her. She has become a staff favorite not because she’s loud or demanding, but because she is so genuinely kind and steady in her affection.

Raven has been waiting a very long time for someone willing to see past the label of a prescription diet and recognize what she truly is: a loving companion who deserves a home of her own.

She doesn’t need anything fancy. Just someone who will learn her routine, give her a sunny window, a soft bed, and most importantly—choose her.

💔 After all this time, Raven is still hoping.
💛 Let’s make sure she doesn’t have to wait much longer.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a gentle, loving cat to your life—and are open to a truly special girl who just needs a little extra dietary care—Raven is waiting for you at PCHS.

Raven is a beautiful black, medium-haired cat who has been patiently waiting for her forever home at PCHS since 10/27/25—making her the longest resident still hoping her person will finally find her.

So much of Raven’s delay in finding a home has simply been due to something very manageable: she requires a special veterinary prescription diet. It’s a small, routine part of her care, but it’s often the detail that causes people to look past her. What gets missed in that moment is the incredible cat behind it.

Raven is truly one of the sweetest souls in the shelter. She has the softest, most delicate little meows, like she’s gently checking in just to say hello. The staff adore her, and she’s earned her place as a quiet favorite among them for her gentle nature and steady presence.

Her happiest moments are simple and peaceful—curled up in her cozy cat bed, gazing out the window as birds flutter by, or soaking in a warm sunbeam like she has nowhere else to be. She finds joy in the calm, everyday things most people overlook, and she does it all with such grace.

Raven also gets along well with other cats in the shelter, sharing space comfortably and peacefully.

After all this time waiting—watching other cats go home while she stays behind—Raven is still as loving and soft-hearted as ever. She doesn’t ask for much beyond someone willing to understand her needs, including her special diet, and see the truly wonderful companion she is.

Raven has waited long enough. Now she’s hoping for the one thing she’s always deserved: a person who chooses her and finally takes her home.

Nyx is a beautiful black kitten with bright curious eyes and a sweet, gentle personality. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and love, her playful and affectionate side quickly begins to shine.

Once Nyx feels comfortable, she loves chasing toys, exploring her surroundings, and curling up in a cozy spot for naps. She enjoys gentle pets and quiet companionship, and her soft purrs are the best reward once she starts to trust you. Nyx is the kind of kitten who forms a special bond with her people and will become a loyal little shadow by your side.

She’s looking for a calm, loving forever home where she can continue building confidence and be spoiled with all the care and affection she deserves. Watching Nyx come out of her shell is truly something special.

If you’re looking for a sweet kitten to grow with and love forever, Nyx may be the perfect match for you. 🖤

Ginny is a petite long-haired tabby with a gentle, easygoing personality and a real fondness for people.

She’s comfortable being around her humans and enjoys attention, without being overly bold or reserved. Ginny settles in nicely wherever she is and likes to stay close enough to feel included, happily accepting pets and companionship when offered.

With her calm, steady nature, she fits well into a peaceful home where she can relax, observe, and join in at her own relaxed pace. She’s affectionate in a quiet, natural way and enjoys simply being part of the day-to-day rhythm of her people.

Ginny would make a lovely companion for someone looking for a sweet, people-friendly cat who is neither shy nor overly demanding—just a soft, steady presence who enjoys being near you.

🐾🤎 SCOOBY-DOO IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 🤎🐾

Some dogs walk into a room quietly. Scooby-Doo is not one of those dogs.

Scooby-Doo is a big, strong, goofy boy with a personality that's impossible to ignore. He brings excitement, laughter, and enthusiasm wherever he goes. While his size and energy may have caused some potential adopters to pass him by, those who take the time to get to know him quickly discover a lovable dog with a huge heart and an even bigger zest for life.

Scooby-Doo loves being around people and thrives on attention. Whether he's making you laugh with his silly antics, wagging his tail with excitement, or simply enjoying time with his favorite humans, Scooby knows how to make every day an adventure. He has a fun-loving spirit that is contagious and a personality that leaves a lasting impression.

Because of his size and strength, Scooby would do best with a family that can continue working on training and provide him with plenty of physical and mental enrichment. He is an active dog who enjoys being involved and wants to be part of the action. Scooby will need a confident, consistent owner who can provide structure, set boundaries, and continue helping him learn. He can be stubborn at times and likes to test limits, so he will do best with someone who understands that leadership, patience, and training are key to helping him succeed.

One thing potential adopters should know is that Scooby loves to chew. When left alone for extended periods without supervision, he can become destructive. Providing appropriate chew toys, enrichment activities, and a structured routine will be important for his success. A strong, sturdy kennel is also a must for Scooby to help keep him safe and secure when unsupervised.

When it comes to other dogs, previous owners reported that Scooby-Doo lived around and did well with other dogs. While we have not had the opportunity to place him in playgroups during his time at the shelter, this history gives us reason to believe he may do well with another dog in the household. As always, any resident dogs should participate in a proper meet-and-greet to help ensure a good match.

Scooby isn't looking for a perfect family—he's looking for the right family. A family that understands that dogs aren't perfect and that some simply need a little extra guidance and patience. In return, Scooby promises to bring laughter, companionship, and unconditional love into your life.

What Scooby really needs is someone willing to look beyond first impressions. Too often, large dogs are overlooked because of their size or energy level. But beneath Scooby's strong frame and goofy grin is a loyal dog who wants nothing more than to belong. He wants a couch to stretch out on, a family to come home to, and a place where he can finally feel safe and loved.

We believe that with the right home, continued training, and plenty of love, Scooby will absolutely thrive. He has so much potential and so much life ahead of him. Now he just needs someone willing to give him that chance.

Could you be the person Scooby-Doo has been waiting for?

🏡🐶 Come meet this big, lovable goofball and see why we think he's so special. His forever family is out there somewhere, and we can't wait for the day he finally gets to walk out of the shelter and into a home of his own.

Please share Scooby-Doo's story and help us find the loving family he deserves. 🤎🐾
