Did you know June 12th marks the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, signed by President Harry S. Truman in 1948? This law officially allowed women to serve as regular, permanent members of the U.S. military. While women had fought and served in every American conflict since the Revolutionary War, this was the moment they finally gained official status.

Today, women are the fastest-growing group in the veteran community. Yet, despite these deep historical roots and incredible modern contributions, too many service women and women veterans still have to fight to be seen, heard, and respected when they return to civilian life.

We advocate for them every single day.

✨🎓 WHAT A DAY!!! 🎓✨

God showed out for us on Monday! 🙏🏾❤️

We started the morning celebrating my daughter Markeyla’s high school graduation 🎓🥹. Then it was straight to Walmart for an emergency same-day move-in. Before the day was over, BraveHeart successfully welcomed THREE new residents into their new home! 🏡🫶🏼

With the help of my amazing man, my children, and my uncle, we were able to move in all 3 residents in one day—even with last-minute emergency placements. Then we wrapped up the day celebrating Jermyla’s graduation too! 👩‍🎓✨

My heart is full. Watching my daughters reach their goals while building BraveHeart and helping others find a safe place to call home is a blessing I don’t take for granted. ❤️

Some days are exhausting, but days like this remind me why I keep going. God is good! 🙌🏾

Today, we had the pleasure of touring a potential resident through BraveHeart Veteran Living, and she was so sweet and genuinely impressed with the home, the cleanliness, and the vision behind our program. 💛

We are building structured independent living homes that provide stability, accountability, peace, and a real opportunity to rebuild.

We’re still putting things together, but seeing the vision come to life is honestly a blessing. Every day we’re getting closer to creating a safe, structured, and comfortable home for adults needing stable housing.

After a lot of hard work, prayers, meetings, and pushing through obstacles, BraveHeart Veteran Living LLC in partnership with Do Better Social Foundation has officially secured a 4-bedroom home in Glenwood, IL for structured independent living housing!

This home will help provide safe, stable housing for veterans and adults transitioning from homelessness and reentry.

Now we need help getting the home fully move-in ready.
