WORDS OF WISDOM FROM CHUCK KNUTH. PLEASE VOTE AND DON'T SKIP BALLOT MEASURE A.
VOTE ON MAY 3rd
There is a special Glenwood Springs City Election on May 3, 2022. The ballot offers only two measures; it may be tempting for many voters to skip it. But with so little homework to do - why? If you are an elector, please vote.
“Elector" means any person who is at least eighteen years of age, a citizen of the United States, and who has resided in the State of Colorado for three (3) months and in a ward of the City for thirty-two (32) days immediately preceding the election at which he offers to vote and who is registered to vote.
There are approximately 6000 electors in Glenwood Springs. The two ballot issues will be decided by simple majorities of however many or few electors choose to vote. So every vote will perceptibly move the needle; your choice will significantly affect the outcome.
This is a great opportunity for a first-time voter to feel empowered with this privilege without being overwhelmed by a national election. If your 18th birthday is on or before May 3, 2022, you are eligible to vote. If you’re not yet registered or don’t have a driver’s license, register at www.govotecolorado.gov. The City Clerk will continue to mail out ballots as newly registered voters’ names are received. If you don’t get your ballot in the mail, go to the city clerk’s office before election day to pick one up.
As Thomas Jefferson said, “We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”

Vote YES on Airport Question “A”

On May 3 we will vote on a City Charter Amendment that requires voter approval for certain future changes to the airport. There is still time to vote! Be heard.

Some Council members have repeatedly introduced motions that could ultimately result in airport closure, releasing the land for unknown reasons. As recently as March 17, the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem scheduled a Council vote that could have significantly modified or eliminated the runway. Council voted 5-2 to foil this blatant attempt to preempt public control of the airport prior to the election.
