East Glenville Firefighters would like to thank Adirondack Beverages for their generous donation of 48 cases of bottled water to our department.

Firefighting is physically demanding work. Whether operating at a structure fire, training or long emergency scenes, firefighters can quickly lose significant amounts of fluid while wearing heavy protective gear and working in high-heat environments. Staying hydrated is an important part of keeping our members healthy, safe and ready to perform when our community needs them.

We sincerely appreciate Adirondack Beverages for supporting our firefighters and the work we do in our community.

Over the past several weeks, East Glenville Fire District has conducted required annual testing of our hoses, nozzles, ladders and pumps to ensure they meet the rugged demands of the fire service and are operationally ready for our firefighters to utilize safely.

In total, the following was tested:
-7485 feet of fire hose
-23 nozzles
-241 feet of ladders
-3 fire pumps

This testing is just a part of the commitment EGFD has to ensure our firefighters have quality equipment to keep our community safe. If you’d like to learn more about the fire service, we welcome you to stop down on a Tuesday Night at 7pm to talk to one of our members. EGFD is an all volunteer department and is always looking for members to add to our team.

EGFD is hosting a blood drive this morning (Saturday 8/8) until noon. There is currently a high need for all blood types. Walk-ins are welcome and there is currently no waiting! Please come down and donate today!

Last night, EGFD firefighters trained on low angle rope rescue skills in the Indian Kill Nature Preserve. Firefighters handle numerous different requests on a daily basis. If this is something you’re interested in learning more about, we welcome you to reach out here or on our website and join our team. We are always looking for more volunteers.

Congratulations to Amanda Delaney who was sworn in as Company Vice President at our monthly meeting last night. Amanda will fill a vacancy at that position for the remainder of the term.
