Thank you to the Chicago Botanic Garden for arranging a tour of The Farm on Ogden! Farm on Ogden is home to a 50,000-gallon aquaponics system, a 7,300-square-foot greenhouse, and year-round indoor market. Last week, I was fortunate to tour the Emergency Department and Trauma Department at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital.

Stroger Hospital is the busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in Illinois, and sees nearly 120,000 adults and children annually. The 450-bed teaching hospital serves as the hub for Cook County Health for delivery of specialty and sub-specialty care.

The Cook County Trauma Unit is the country’s first comprehensive center dedicated solely to the care of acutely injured patients, and serves as a national model for trauma care. Cook County Trauma and Burn has 9 full-time attending trauma/burn surgeons, up to 6 clinical trauma fellows, and 2 clinical burn fellows.
