Glenview History Center Welcome to the Glenview History Center's page! The Farmhouse museum is open Sunday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 in the summer or by appointment.

The Glenview History Center is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that preserves the cultural heritage of Glenview and its people. The Center maintains two facilities: the 1864 Farmhouse Museum and the modern Hibbard Library, a replica of the Victorian coach house. The museum displays furniture, clothing, pictures, and other memorabilia from the Civil War period to World War II. Please call 847-724-2235 to arrange a tour! The Hibbard Library is open for research on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00. Suggested donation is $5. To find out more about the GHC and Glenview explore the web site!

This year we’re ordering up some “Memories on the Menu” for Throwback Thursday. Do you remember Dragon Inn North? The location began life as George Payne's restaurant in 1942, then the distinctive pagoda-style building at 1650 Waukegan Road operated as Torch-Lite restaurant and/or Two Point Inn for 27 years until sold in 1973. An offshoot of a South Side Chicago Cantonese eatery owned by five Chinese couples, Dragon Inn North survived a 2002 fire, and closed in 2018.

This year we’re ordering up some “Memories on the Menu” for Throwback Thursday. Do you remember Chick-n-Rib Joynt? The carry-out restaurant was an original tenant after Plaza del Prado opened in 1978. It closed in the mid 1990s. A sporting goods store is there today.

This year we’re ordering up some “Memories on the Menu” for Throwback Thursday. Do you remember all the restaurants at 1432 Waukegan Road in Carillon Square? Christy's opened there in the early 1980s, known for its brunch buffet. It was followed in the 1990s by Billi Bi; Hamburger Hamlet, the chain that went bankrupt in 1995; and Kramden's. Lalo's has been there since 2000.

This year we’re ordering up some “Memories on the Menu” for Throwback Thursday. Do you remember Dapper's North? Briefly located in Howard Plaza, the family restaurant moved to 4520 West Lake Avenue in the 1990s. Glenview Delight operated there in the early 2000s, vacating in 2008. Plans were floated for a Gulliver's Pizza and Pub and Mario Magees before North Branch relocated there in 2012.(Sorry, can't find an image, so enjoy this sandwich from Dapper's East!)

This year we’re ordering up some “Memories on the Menu” for Throwback Thursday. Do you remember Valentino's Ristorante. It moved from Mt. Prospect to 3582 Milwaukee Ave. in the early 1980s. It became Ristorante Donato in the late 1990s. Since 2002, it's been a series of Korean restaurants.
