A historic Glenview helicopter is off to get restored and refurbished!

A circa 1968 Sikorsky Seaguard helicopter, once used in Coast Guard operations at the former Naval Air Station Glenview, and now part of the Glenview History Center collection, has begun a multi-year refurbishment with the Legacy Aviation Learning Center in Traverse City, Michigan. Over the next three years, aviation students will help bring this historic aircraft back to life while gaining hands-on technical training.

The helicopter has a well-traveled past, as it was previously displayed for 18 years at the Museum of Science and Industry before being acquired by the Hangar One Foundation in 2006 and relocated to Glenview.
