Webinar: Fleet Maintenance Tips for Weathering the Chassis Shortage
Wednesday, June 23, 2021 | 2:00pm Eastern

Presented by Mark Van Arnam, Maria Bianchi, Drew Morrow, and Trampus Gaspard
June 23, 2021 | 14:00 ET | Free to AAA Members

The American Ambulance Association and the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services recently reported that a global semiconductor shortage has crippled the production of motor vehicle chassis—including those used by ambulance manufacturers and remounters. Ford Motor Company, which supplies approximately 70% of the ambulance chassis used in the US, halted production in mid-April. The end is not yet in sight, with the shortage of the critically important microchips predicted to run into 2022.

Join ambulance fleet experts from across the country to learn what your EMS agency can do NOW to extend the lifecycle of your vehicles and minimize the impact of the chip and chassis shortage. Additionally, learn how the American Ambulance Association is working to drive federal, state, and local advocacy efforts to ensure that first responders are at the front of the line when production resumes. Don’t miss your chance to learn from ambulance fleet luminaries how they keep their crews rolling, 24/7!

Over 150 have already registered and more are expected. The presentation will be recorded and available online after the presentation date.
Registration is required.

Out of an abundance of caution concerning the health and safety needs of staff, site reviewers and healthcare agencies who are responding to the evolving COVID-19 issue, The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services Board of Directors has implemented a travel restriction for all staff and site reviewers. Effective immediately, all scheduled CAAS site visits will be postponed for the next 60 days. All accredited agencies that are impacted by this delay will automatically receive a 60-day extension to this accreditation cycle’s expiration date.

This temporary change will NOT impact existing submission deadlines. All accredited agencies with pending submission deadlines are to submit application and documentation materials as scheduled. Once the travel restrictions have been lifted, all reaccreditation on site reviews will be given top priority for scheduling based upon expiration date.

New applications will still be accepted by CAAS during this period. All new onsite reviews will be scheduled in the order they were submitted once all reaccrediting agencies have been scheduled.

CAAS will revisit this restriction every 30 days and will make any additional changes as necessary. It is our intent to resume normal operations as soon as safely possible, and agencies should be prepared to schedule the onsite review at any time. If you have any questions regarding this policy or how it may affect your agency’s submission schedule, please contact the CAAS office at 1-847-657-6828.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sarah L. McEntee
Executive Director, CAAS
