District 34 and its schools’ social media pages inform parents, staff, and community members about our achievements, events and activities and to make it easy for our community to connect with the District, our schools and individual classrooms. Our second May Shining Star recipient is Paula Smeltekop, LRC Director at Hoffman! 🌟

Paula has been recognized for her exceptional dedication to student connection and belonging. By listening to students and responding to their needs, Paula helped launch a series of student-led Recess Clubs that have brought together over 100 students throughout the school year. She partnered with the Glenview Education Foundation to give students a welcoming space to explore their interests, build friendships, and feel truly at home in their school community.

We're excited to announce our first Shining Star recipient for the month of May: Vicky Marcu, Lead Custodian at Lyon! 🌟

Vicky was nominated by TEN colleagues across the building for her tireless work ethic, her positive attitude, and her anticipation and solving of problems before anyone else even notices them. No task is too big or too small; whether she's supporting a school event, helping out in the gym, tackling maintenance needs, or simply making sure staff and students have what they need to have a great day, Vicky shows up with energy and a smile every time.
