*Attention, please sign the petition!* Please!!!
A personal plea to preserve our Glens Falls neighborhoods!
Many of us who live here, do so for the same reasons that “LOOK” Magazine spotlighted Glens Falls, NY and titled it “Hometown, USA"
The Character, History and Green Space, all add up to the charm calling our little city home!!
The Issue- A new developer proposes Two HUGE changes to the corner of Ridge and William Streets. First, remodeling the existing 1875 Victorian house to SIX rental units with 10 B/R, 6 BA and 6 kitchens.
Next they want to remove over 25 trees in the small area in back to build a strip of SIX, yes Six!, rental townhouses each with 3 B/R, 2.5 BA and a kitchen. They alsoplan to add 23 parking spaces on the inside of the block!
This would dramatically change the density of the neighborhood ~more than doubling the number of residents on the entire block! It would put a serious strain on the infrastructure (utilities, sewer, *public safety and traffic*) while also negatively affecting the schools, environment, character and quality of life in the neighborhood all while bringing down the value of the surrounding properties.
While we support the renovation of the existing house, keeping in line with the historical architecture, we OPPOSE the additional buildings, making a compound of rental units in the middle of a block of single-family homes.
Why it Matters to you:
There are many developers in the area watching this project- so it could affect you and your neighborhood next! There are a number of “flag” lots in this town just like this one and we don’t want to see any of them made into full development compounds.
How you can help:
We already have 40+ neighbors/concerned citizens supporting this but we need YOUR HELP!
PLEASE JOIN US by signing this petition asking the city to hear the many concerned taxpayers and DENY the compound buildout of the townhouse addition and restrict the developer to just the proposed remodeling of the original 196 Ridge St. house with reduced density.
Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?
