The Friends of Crandall Public Library

The Friends of Crandall Public Library The Friends are dedicated to providing financial support to Crandall Library. Membership is comprised of all persons who financially support the organization.

The Friends of Crandall Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and maintaining the library's presence in the community. The Board of Directors consists of at least 12--but not more than 24--members allocated in proportion to the populations of the City of Glens Falls and the Towns of Queensbury and Moreau. One of the major functions of the Board is to sponsor quarterly

used book sales which are open to the general public--and made possible by community used book donations--and whose proceeds go exclusively to financially support the library.

Visit the latest exhibit at the Friends of Crandall Library Gallery on the second floor to see woven expressions, an exhibit of weaving by the Garnet Weavers

Inspired by the uniqueness of Adirondack Garnet and its impact on the area, a local weaving group chose the name Garnet Weavers. As a group, they are comprised of beginners to experienced weavers. What brings them together is a love of weaving.

Meet the Weavers at the opening reception this Thursday between 4-6pm.

The first book sale of 2026 was a huge success with an incredible 7,983 books sold! Thanks to all patrons, whether neighbors, friends, or family, that stopped by the Crandall Public Library on Friday and Saturday to browse and buy thousands of donated books.

I compiled a video from patrons that were willing to show off the books that they found. Our team of volunteers will rest and recover before opening the book donations back up on February 6th to get ready for our next book sale later this year.

Stay safe and warm as you read the books you found! Considering its Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow, so we still have six more weeks of winter. ❄️☃️📚

The Crandall Public Library Community Room and the shelves in the Fiction Room are full of books to browse for the first day of our Winter Book Sale! Doors open at 9am today. ❄️ 📚

Be extra cautious when driving and walking to the library. The winter storm last weekend has led to icy roads and sidewalks. The library staff and the Glens Falls DPW have been working hard to clear the snow around the building, but the frigid temperatures this week might lead to slippery conditions.

Stay safe and see you today and tomorrow at the book sale!

A new year is upon us, and our January Book Sale is right around the corner. We have been diligently sorting through thousands of gently used book donations over the past two months, and our shelves are getting full as our hearts swell with pride.

We are excited to welcome everyone into the Community Room, and deeper into the basement of Crandall Library, on January 30-31st between 9-4pm to browse around and find your next book. Our cameraman, Sean Palladino, will be asking patrons if they want to share their book finds again on Saturday for social media. The Fall Book Sale video elicited many joyful reactions and surprising discoveries, and we are excited to learn about new book finds from patrons.

Remember that our donation bin will close two weeks before the sale on Friday, January 16th, so we can finalize sorting and get ready, and re-open donations on February 6th. Until then, stay warm during the cold month. See you at our next book sale! 📚

Our Fall Book Sale was a huge and resounding success! Thanks to thousands of people that browsed and bought books, we generated $6,400 for the Crandall Public Library. And on Saturday, we gave away fourteen boxes of books to many costumed adults and children during Downtown Glens Falls' Boo2You festival.

Our social media guru, Sean Palladino, is currently editing a video featuring some of our patrons that allowed us film them showing off their book finds. Stay tuned!

Thank you all for supporting your local library! We wish you lots of fun, snowy evenings as you read some newly treasured books. Our next book sale is January 30th.
