We just told you that Glens Falls is #1 according to Worldatlas.com, now the New York Times theater pages are saying head to the Adirondack Theater Festival and see what it's all about!
Congrats to the theater, its managers, playwrights, crew, and the people here who have made it what it is and kept it going all this time!
(Looking to come to the city? Come for the play, stay the night. Eat at our restaurants. Check out our murals and artists. We're about three hours from NYC, Boston, Montreal. We might not be the center of the universe, but you can see it from here!)

Across the country, audiences will find an abundance of Shakespeare, exciting new plays, and musicals and regional repertories in bucolic settings.

Worldatlas.com, shhhhhhhhhhh! Now everyone's going to know that Glens Falls is #1 (and for all the right reasons)! A great (beautiful and walkable) downtown, top notch healthcare, a huge park, the wonderful Crandall Public Library, great restaurants from diners to food trucks to white tablecloth dinners that rival any city in the USA. Congratulations to the Saratoga Regional YMCA - Glens Falls Branch with their historic groundbreaking ceremony earlier today to mark a new chapter in the life of the Y that has been around since 1968.
We look forward to seeing the facilities once completed.
"I cannot tell you how often someone says, 'I heard it at the Y,'" mayor Diana Palmer says of this important community hub! "Congratulations on this milestone!"
The Glens Falls YMCA itself says this project represents a major investment ($8M) in the future of our YMCA and our community, expanding opportunities for youth and families, enhancing wellness spaces, improving accessibility, and creating a more welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

Mayor Palmer, City Historian Wayne Wright, and members of our Cemetery Commission joined family members and members of the DAR, SAR, and CAR to mark the grave of John Mallory who served in the Revolutionary War.

This year, as our country marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, it feels like an especially appropriate time to remember the people who answered the call to serve and the families who sacrificed alongside them. It’s easy to think of history as something distant, but days like today remind us that it was lived by ordinary people who built homes, raised families, and helped create the communities we enjoy today.

John Mallory and his wife raised 8 children in Glens Falls. Many of his descendants traveled from Oklahoma, Ohio, and other places to gather in our beautiful cemetery and celebrate their family legacy through a dedication ceremony.

GLENS FALLS, June 2, 2026 — The city has been receiving many complaints from people regarding certain individuals in the city who have been shouting inflammatory comments, gesticulating wildly and otherwise engaging with people in the city in a way that is disconcerting and makes people feel uncomfortable.

We understand the discomfort, and we are not dismissing these concerns.

The Glens Falls Police Department responds to all 911 calls, and patrol officers respond to as many as two dozen of these sorts of calls per day.

As well, the department’s social worker collaborates with local agencies to connect people to the appropriate services.

The mayor’s office and police department are asking the community to continue to call 911 if you are threatened or see suspicious activity, and please be willing to be interviewed rather than calling anonymously so the police can gather more information about what you saw and what your specific concerns are.

These types of calls may require a caller to file a statement with the police, or the department may not be able to take any further action. The city would also like to remind the public that even loud, profane, offensive, or illogical speech may still be protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and police cannot arrest or detain someone solely because their speech is unpopular, disturbing, or makes others uncomfortable.

However, the First Amendment does not protect criminal conduct, true threats, harassment, intimidation, disorderly conduct, or behavior that places others in fear for their safety. Officers can and do intervene when conduct crosses the line into unlawful behavior or when intervention is necessary to deescalate situations and protect public safety. The City remains committed to balancing constitutional rights with maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.

So happy to be a part of the Queensbury Hotel's 100th Anniversary last night. Congratulations, once again, to Ed Moore's team for their grand revival of that cornerstone of the Glens Falls community. The Common Council issued a proclamation earlier this week to celebrate:

Whereas, the Queensbury Hotel has been a landmark of hospitality and a monument to civic pride for the City of Glens Falls and New York’s North Country for 100 years, and

Whereas, The Queensbury was founded in 1924 by 100 local business leaders who believed a vibrant and prosperous Glens Falls, and

Whereas, the community and business leaders of Glens Falls took it upon themselves to raise $600,000 and open a hotel offering warm hospitality and conveniences, and

Whereas, Glens Falls businessman Ed Moore purchased The Queensbury in 2016, and, with his team, has undertaken an unprecedented overhaul of the property with millions of dollars invested in renovations, and

Whereas, the Moore family and Spruce Hospitality Group have injected new vitality into The Queensbury’s historic halls, and restored The Queensbury to its rightful place as the headquarters of holiday events, hometown celebrations, family gatherings and a premiere destination for travelers, and

Whereas, The Queensbury is recognized today as a member of Historic Hotels of America, now therefore

Be It Resolved that the Glens Falls Common Council salutes and commends The Queensbury Hotel, its owners and employees on the occasion of the hotel’s 100th anniversary, with this proclamation that May 28, 2026, is The Queensbury Hotel day in Glens Falls.
