Road Alert

The roads are slick. If you don't have a legitimate reason to be out, stay home.

If you are driving:

Slow way down. Speed is what gets people in trouble when there is no traction.
Easy on the brakes. Sudden braking or sharp steering will put you in the ditch.
Don't trust the road. If a patch looks wet, assume it's solid ice.

Better to stay put than to deal with a wreck.

⚠️ HIGH WIND ALERT ⚠️

The winds are here and the grass is bone-dry. In these gusts, a fire will move faster than we can catch it.

Please postpone any outdoor work or burning that could create a spark until conditions improve. Wind is the biggest obstacle to fire control right now—don't give it a head start.

Let's keep the trucks in the bay and the community safe.

Stay safe!

⚠️ HIGH WIND WARNING ⚠️

We didn't start the fire—and we want to keep it that way.

The Glenrock Fire Department is asking everyone to stay extra vigilant over the next few days. We are under a High Wind Warning with extreme gusts moving in. While there is snow in the forecast for later this week, the current fuel conditions remain dangerously dry.

Please consider the risks before:

-Burning trash or weeds: High winds can carry embers miles downwind in seconds.

-Using welders or torches: If you are working outside, keep water or an extinguisher immediately on hand.

-Dragging trailer chains: One spark on the pavement can start a fast-moving grass fire.

The wind is the primary failure point in fire suppression right now. Let's wait for that moisture to hit and keep our community safe.

Stay safe Glenrock, Rolling Hills, and Converse County!

The Super Bowl is today, which means a high probability of wings, questionable refereeing, and avoidable accidents. The Glenrock Fire Department wants you to enjoy the game without us having to drop by.

Grilling: Keep the grill away from the house. Flare-ups are for the halftime show, not your vinyl siding.

The Kitchen: If you’re frying or boiling, stay in the room. Most kitchen fires happen when the cook gets distracted by a big play or a funny commercial.

Driving: If your celebration involves a few drinks, have a plan for a sober ride before the kickoff. Getting home safely is the only "win" that actually matters.

Have a great Sunday, Glenrock. Let’s keep the excitement on the field.

Someone Has To Go.

In a rural department, we don't have a "next shift" waiting in the wings. We are the shift.

Whether it's a grass fire moving toward your neighbor's barn or a rollover on an icy highway, someone has to answer the call. If you have the physical ability and the mental toughness to serve Glenrock and Converse County, we have a spot for you.

No Experience Required: We’ll train you.

Full Gear Provided: We’ll protect you.

Purpose Guaranteed: We’ll use you.

Come see us at one of the stations this week or message us here for more info.

Help Us Help You: Drive Smart in Glenrock

When the tones go off, our priority is getting to the scene safely and quickly. But the best-case scenario for us is never having to leave the station at all.

As we navigate our local roads, remember that rural areas account for 85% of Wyoming’s motor vehicle fatalities. High speeds and driver inattention are the leading causes of accidents in our county.

How you can help:

Slow Down: Speeding was a factor in nearly 44% of fatal crashes in Wyoming recently.

Eyes on the Road: Put the phone down. Distracted driving is a leading cause of lane departures and rollovers.

Move Over: If you see emergency lights on the shoulder, Wyoming law requires you to move over or slow down. Give us the space to work safely.

We’re proud to serve this community, but we’d much rather see you at around town than on the side of the highway.

Drive safely, Glenrock.
