NOTICE OF LIFTED BURN BAN IN RAPIDES PARISH

Effective 09:00 on Monday, March 9th, the burn ban in Rapides Parish has been officially lifted.

Citizens of Glenmora are informed that outdoor burning is permitted after obtaining a burn permit from Glenmora Fire Station #1 or the Glenmora Town Hall.

Although recent rainfall has improved conditions, residents are advised to exercise caution when participating in outdoor burning activities.

We would like to express our appreciation to the Rapides Parish Police Jury for their support during the recent dry and windy weather conditions.

Thank you Fire Chief Cody Cloessner.

To those inquiring about the burn ban, this is to inform everyone that YES, a parish-wide burn ban REMAINS in effect.

Signs indicating "BURN BAN IN EFFECT" are posted at US-165 and Main St.

Until this ban is lifted, all forms of burning, including, leaves, limbs, and paper, are strictly prohibited; ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.

Despite recent rainfall, even small fires can spread rapidly and become unmanageable.

We will remove the signs and resume issuing burn permits once the ban is lifted.

We want to remind everyone that if you experience a fire, the fastest way to get us is by calling 911. Give them the location of the emergency; if you do not have the exact location, give the road you are on and the closest intersecting road. Small details that are given help us to find you quicker in an emergency.

Thank you for your cooperation, Glenmora Fire Chief Cody Cloessner.

This weekend, we teamed up with four other departments to do some training. I would like to thank everyone who participated in it and those who helped make it happen.

Thanks to Oakhill, Forrest Hill, and Spring Creek for being a part. Special thanks to Plainview for opening up their very nice burn building and allowing us to use it. I really appreciate having neighboring departments that are so willing to work and learn together.

Thanks to Mr. Kendall Ryland for being willing to come help teach on short notice.

I would like to give a big thank you to one of my heroes in the fire service, Mr. James Wells. I was very fortunate as a young fireman to be able to serve and learn under him. A lot of what I know today came from watching and listening to him. I learned a lot standing around a coffee pot listening. Thank you for coming out of retirement and teaching one more last class again. I hope in the very near future we can do it again. (I’ll keep the coffee pot hot)

Last but definitely not least, thanks to my guys who helped in every way possible. Thanks, guys, you sure take a load off of me. I really appreciate it.

One team striving to reach one goal.
