PRESS RELEASE - Glendora, CA

The holiday season can be dangerous for people on the roads. In December 2023 alone, 1,038 people were killed in the U.S. in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Glendora Police Department wants to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and to celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.

From December 12 through New Year’s Day, the Glendora Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The high-visibility enforcement effort is part of a national campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, with the goal of stopping suspected impaired drivers who put others at risk.

“We want to make sure everyone gets home safely so that they can celebrate the holiday season with their families and loved ones,” Glendora Police Department Police Captain Shelly Gold said. “Not only is driving impaired illegal, but it is also dangerous and never acceptable. We are asking everyone to do their part to keep themselves and everyone on the roads safe.”

said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads
significantly improve traffic safety.”

PRESS RELEASE - Glendora, CA

During National Teen Driver Safety Week, the Glendora Police Department encourages parents and caregivers to talk with their teens about safe driving habits and the Rules of the Road before handing over the keys.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for teens (15-18 years old) in the United States.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2023, there were 2,611 people killed in crashes involving a teen driver. In 2023, 465 people were killed in crashes on California roads involving drivers aged 20 or younger, accounting for nearly 11.5% of fatalities in traffic crashes.

The Glendora Police Department reminds parents and caregivers to discuss the dangers of risky driving behaviors like speeding, texting while driving, or not wearing a seat belt. Teens should also understand the serious dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

"Parents and caregivers play a critical role in teaching teens safe driving habits," Glendora Police Captain Chris Stabio said. "Having these meaningful conversations, setting rules, and being a role model for safe driving can help teens make better choices when they're driving."

PRESS RELEASE - Glendora, CA

As the end of summer approaches and families prepare for Labor Day celebrations, the Glendora Police Department reminds everyone to prioritize safety on the roads. Drivers are encouraged to make responsible choices behind the wheel by never driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 12,429 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes in 2023 — that's one person every 42 minutes.

"We want everyone to enjoy their end-of-summer travels and Labor Day festivities, but it's important to do so responsibly," Chief Mike Randazzo said.
