I want to thank everyone who believed in me, voted for me, encouraged me, and helped me run this campaign. It was a wild and completely unexpected roller coaster ride from beginning to end.

I’m so proud of our state for turning out to vote like we did, 80% voter turnout is something to be proud of. Thank you for using your voices.

Here is my challenge to all of us in the next 4 years: It is time to stop calling each other fascists and communists for voting one way or another.
No great change happens top down. It’s always grass roots and from the ground up. It is time to stop talking about politicians but about policies and values. Get involved locally and reach across the aisle! Let’s rebuild healthy conversation around politics with our neighbors.

Brandon, I hope that you represent this precious community well with dedication to listening to everyone in HD 33 and a commitment to what they want.

Onward to continuing to serve our communities in Eastern Montana, just not in Helena for now!

Happy Election Day!

If you haven’t already head on down to your counties’ Clerk and Recorders office to return your mail in ballot by hand.
If you vote in person and you are in Dawson County Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 you vote at the EPEC. If you are in Dawson County Precinct 5 you’ll vote at the Richey Senior Center.
In Richland County: Precinct 7 votes at Lambert High School in the Old Gym, Precinct 5 votes at the Savage Senior Center, and Precinct 9 votes at the Event Center at the Richland County Fairground in Sidney.

If you are voting for any of the write in candidates be sure to fill in the bubble and write their name on the line! You can ask your polling place for a complete list of registered write-in candidates.

This is what I wrote a year ago today. It stands truer now than ever and is the only response that matters. I am who I am and that does not change. I say words with my chest and mean it, I don’t hide behind anyone like a coward. If you are looking for brave and bold leadership that is unafraid to say what needs to be said with truth, nuance, and kindness. I’m your person. If you want someone who puts themselves aside to represent you, I’m your person.

Dawson and Richland Counties, there are no finer people in the world than in our district community. Regardless of election results I will continue to gleefully serve and advocate for our community .

I met Reilly Neill for U.S. Congress through politics and I am now proud to call her my friend. Why? Because she is just as passionate as I am about representing the people of Montana WELL. Just like that we had common ground to build on. We don’t agree on policy all of the time but we have already figured out some good compromises simply because we know we need each other, because we are invested in our state and country and because we believe the best in each other.

We the people are the power to bring bi-partisanship back. To have a functional and effective government who respects the citizens as its’ ultimate check on power.

It’s Twitter Tuesday and I’m coming in hot this morning:

Education is what it all boils down to. We must have an educated public that knows what fact versus opinion is, what a real news source is, and how to think critically about everything we read. We can teach that in our public schools and we should. Finland is.
Instead, we sit around and ban books and say that they are grooming children because someone doesn’t like them. Instead we sow doubt and question what reality is. That’s not freedom, it’s not protecting children, and it’s rapidly devolving into a selfish chaotic system that is easy to take advantage of.

Take education seriously and we will have a healthier, safer, all around better country.
