Following the adoption of new regulations by the Board of Aldermen on June 1, 2026, beekeepers in the City of Glendale are now required to obtain a Honeybee Permit for any new, or existing, hives maintained on their property.

The goal of the new rules is to promote responsible practices for maintaining honeybee colonies. The regulations were developed in consultation with the Missouri Beekeepers Association and align with similar legislation adopted by other St. Louis County municipalities.

Applications can be submitted through Glendale’s MGO (My Government Online) portal at www.mgoconnect.org/cp/portal.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday that recognizes June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The holiday honors resilience, celebrates freedom, and encourages reflection on our nation's history and continued journey toward equality.

City Hall will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, June 22.

In 2026, the City of Glendale adopted “Blueprint Glendale,” the City’s first Comprehensive Plan, as the first phase in a two-phase project intended to guide the physical character of development, public space and infrastructure in Glendale. The second phase of Blueprint Glendale is an update to the City's zoning code, which was originally adopted in 1963 and has largely been unchanged since.

The City will be holding an open house on Monday, June 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. where residents can learn more about the updates to the zoning code and ask questions of City staff. Residents, business owners and other community members can view the draft zoning code and learn more at https://tinyurl.com/579s4tt3.
