What a wonderful PrideFest in Whitewater! 🌈 From the sunny skies to the warm smiles, everywhere we turned the day felt inclusive and uplifting.🫶 Being out in the open air at one of the last events of the season reminded us how much we value community connections. 🎃👻 Halloween is a time for fun — but also a time to be thoughtful.

As adoptive families start planning costumes, it’s important to remember that some Halloween choices can unintentionally cause harm — especially when they stereotype cultures, mimic someone's identity, or make light of lived experiences.

For adoptees, particularly those in transracial or international adoptions, Halloween can bring up big feelings if they see aspects of their culture used as a costume.

Adoption Choice, Inc.’s 40th anniversary is more than a milestone—it's about the people behind the mission.

Shyanne is an Adoption Counselor out of the Green Bay office and has been part of the team since the winter of 2023. Shyanne earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work, with a minor in Family Studies, alongside a certificate in Child Welfare and Gerontology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Before joining the ACI team, Shyanne had one year interning and two years working in the Child Welfare field.

Shyanne actively maintains her license as a certified social worker in the state of Wisconsin to best support, guide, and advocate for birthparents, adoptive parents, and their families. Personally, Shyanne enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two sons.
