For everyone who may not have seen this, just some pix of what might be our future - if we don’t show up for upcoming meetings. More on that on Tuesday.

Yah know - some days you just need a little love.

This is one of the reasons why I am running. The 24 year red majority in our state now has the unmitigated arrogance to want to control art through ill-defined ideology. Something the Supreme Court has ruled is unconstitutional. But hey, we’ve got a majority and we will determine what art is and who gets funding and who is acceptable and who is not. Nope. I don’t buy it. I just finished watching and supporting Proud Mary Theatre’s production of ‘Book of Merman.’ A funny, insightful, comedic and poignant study of self-awareness, discovery, and acceptance. And isn’t that the kind of story we want across our State? Join the fight for artistic freedom.

The South Carolina Arts Commission paused grants to two LGBTQ+ groups and asked them to defend their “artistic merit.” Critics and the ACLU warn the move could chill artistic expression.

Support the arts! The Arts Commision in Columbia is determining what art we get to see in Spartanburg - we didn’t get a say, we didn’t get a vote, we never got a hearing - but THEY get to determine what is ‘art’ and who has to ‘defend’ their ‘art.’ And it was only two groups, and both in the Upstate. You can help these two groups - collections of artists who bring high quality entertainment to the Upstate with volunteer artists with remarkable talent. Tell Columbia we will determine their artistic merits, NOT unelected people from outside of town.

We are so grateful to everyone who has reached out to us over the past few days asking how they can help us during this time! Here is a list of things folks can do to help us out any time!

Look at the email I received today! Please join in this 'Town Hall.' And I have just one question (we will see if it is answered): 'Where are the answers to all the questions asked in the last town hall months ago?' I've looked on their web page and sent queries in, but have not seen or heard anything. Will we be receiving any answers to the questions that are asked during the town hall on 23 August? The world wonders....

Correct me if I read this incorrectly. If I understand the info below, this is an admin hearing, and that no construction can begin. If this is accurate, no data centers can be built or begin while the Commision is considering the moratorium. I also understand that the moratorium has nothing to do with data centers (like Valara) that are already under construction. Please comment and make sure I
Am accurate (I believe in accountability and transparency - hold me to it)!

The Lightstone Group’s project at 300 Jones Road is why Spartanburg County Council is weighing a pause on new data centers, which was delayed. (Full story below.)
