Mission Statement
To Serve and Protect our Community while enhancing trust through Professional Police Services

The Police Department is divided into two main divisions: Patrol Operations and Support Operations. Each division manages specialized units, including community outreach, traffic, bicycle, beat patrol, K-9, school resource, investigations, communications, records, and others. A variety of programs are offered through the Police Department, including:

National Night Out
Special Olympics
Fishing Derby

They are also members of the DuPage Major Crimes Task Force, DuPage Arson Task Force, DuPage County Swat Team, Illinois Weapons of Mass Destruction Response Team, DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Taskforce (DuCart), Drug Enforcement Agency, and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMeg). All of these efforts combined are for the benefit of increased efficiency and to provide enhanced services to the community. Although each employee is assigned to a specific unit and division, their commitment to protect and serve the residents and community combine to form the extraordinary team of men and women who represent the Glendale Heights Police Department.

25 Flags. 25 Years. One Community.

The Village of Glendale Heights is seeking up to 25 volunteers to help carry American flags in honor of the 25th anniversary of September 11.

Volunteers should arrive at Village Hall at approximately 6:50 p.m. on September 11. We will walk a short distance together carrying the flags and then stand with them throughout the ceremony.

It’s a simple but meaningful way to honor those we lost, remember the heroes who served, and show that 25 years later, we will never forget.

The Village of Glendale Heights will remember Patriot Day on Friday, September 11, with a silent parade of first responder vehicles from Reskin School, west bound on Fullerton Avenue to Village Hall, followed by a candlelight service at 7:15 p.m. on the front steps of Village Hall.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. We invite the Glendale Heights community to join us as we come together to honor the lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and reflect on the events that changed our nation forever.

Please join us for a moment of silence and reflection as we remember September 11, 2001. We will never forget.

Let’s all paws for a moment… Police K-9 Ivy is THREE!

That’s right… three years of sniffing out trouble, finding lost individuals, posing for the camera and, most importantly, being there for the Village of Glendale Heights!

She’s officially 21 in dog years, so we’ll be treating her with the respect she deserves today: extra treats and extra belly rubs.

The is proud to introduce the Blue Envelope Program to Glendale Heights!

In partnership with The Autism Hero Project, this program is designed to help improve communication and create a more positive experience during traffic stops for individuals on the autism spectrum or those who may have other communication differences.

The blue envelope provides a simple way to share important information with a police officer. Drivers can keep their driver’s license, vehicle registration, insurance card, and helpful communication information inside the envelope to provide to an officer during a traffic stop.

Every squad car will also be equipped with Autism Hero Project bags containing unique supplies to ensure smooth communication by all parties. Special thank you to Schnitzel Platz for sponsoring the bags for every squad car!

This program is about more than what happens during a traffic stop for our officers. It’s about building understanding, creating connections, and helping individuals and families feel more comfortable knowing that their local police department is committed to meeting people where they are.

Residents can pick up Blue Envelope materials at the Glendale Heights Police Department — 300 Civic Center Plaza, Glendale Heights, IL 60139. M-F 7:00AM to 7:00PM.

Glendale Heights Man Charged with Damaging Speed Radar Unit Near School Zone and Damaging/Stealing Multiple License Plate Reader Cameras

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Glendale Heights Chief of Police George Pappas announced today that a Glendale Heights man has been charged with damaging a speed radar unit near a school zone, vandalizing six Flock ALPR (Automated License Plate Reading) cameras, and stealing six Flock ALPRs last week. Hayden Green, 19 (d.o.b. 6/12/2007) of the 300 block of East Altgeld Avenue, appeared in First Appearance Court this morning charged with three counts of Theft of Government Property - $500

The hosted a Citizens Police Academy Alumni Meeting last night and welcomed the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and State’s Attorney Bob Berlin.

SA Berlin spoke with alumni about the role of the State’s Attorney’s Office, the prosecution process, first-time diversion programs, current crime trends, and the importance of community involvement.
