Family Service of Glencoe The heart of our community for over 100 years.

Family Service of Glencoe's mission is to provide a stronger community and meet individual and family needs through services which identify, prevent and resolve social and emotional problems. These services include

- Clinical therapy for families, couples and individuals
- Support of youth and adolescent programming in the Glencoe schools
- 24- hour crisis intervention services
- Family events including Family Fun Fest
- Employee assistance program for local employees
- Scholarship screening for local day care, school, park district and sports programs
- Support for Glencoe seniors including housing assistance
Referrals to other organizations

Through these services and more, we strive to encourage emotional well-being for the good of the individual, the family and, ultimately the community.

Supporting a Dementia Friendly Community🤗

Family Service of Glencoe recently hosted a Lunch & Learn led by Emily Mysel, LCSW, Senior Program Manager/Crisis Specialist at FSG, on building a more dementia friendly community.

Attendees learned about the different types of dementia, the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer's disease, and practical tips for creating dementia friendly spaces and communication.

The session also highlighted Glencoe's work as a designated Dementia Friendly Community since 2019, from the Glencoe Cares Program to memory screenings and caregiver support groups, and shared ways community members can get involved, including becoming a Dementia Friend.

Resources and support are available through Family Service of Glencoe's Senior Services program.

Calling all older adults... are you ready to coffee & connect?☕

Sip on some fresh, complementary coffee with Family Service of Glencoe and Winnetka Police Department next Wednesday, September 9th, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Winnetka Starbucks.

Co-hosted by FSG’s Senior Program Manager, Emily Mysel, LCSW and WPD Social Service Counselor Patrick Kelley, LCPC, this meetup is great for older adults looking to sip and converse.

In honor of September being the month of self-care awareness, we want to encourage any dementia caregivers located in the North Shore to join our monthly Dementia Caregiver Support Group next Thursday. These sessions are a safe space to connect with other dementia caregivers, and feel supported and understood in this free and confidential group.

We are very excited to announce FSG’s partnership with Highwood Library & Community Center 📚

Through our partnership, FSG clinicians Alex Ochoa, LCSW, Outreach & Intake Manager, and Ana Balthazar, AMFT, Staff Therapist, provide individual, couples, and family therapy at the Highwood Library & Community Center. Alex and Ana work with individuals from children to older adults providing services in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
