Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is currently seeking volunteers throughout York County for the 2027 tax season. No previous tax experience is required. Volunteers receive training and ongoing support, with opportunities ranging from preparing tax returns to greeting clients, scheduling appointments, providing technology or administrative support, and serving as translators.

Last year, nearly 100 local Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 4,300 York County residents file their federal, state, and local tax returns.

Medicare Open Enrollment Assistance

Medicare Open Enrollment is coming up, and the York County Area Agency on Aging is offering individual counseling appointments to help residents understand their options.

Trained PA MEDI counselors provide free, unbiased information and can help with Medicare coverage options, Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans, eligibility and enrollment, prescription drug coverage, Medicare Savings Programs, and more.

📅 Open Enrollment: October 15 – December 7

Several counseling events will be held throughout York County during the enrollment period, including locations in Shrewsbury, Hanover, Spring Grove, Dallastown, Red Lion, York and other nearby communities.

🇺🇸 TONIGHT: 9/11 REMEMBRANCE RELAY COMES THROUGH GLEN ROCK 🇺🇸

Tonight, Glen Rock has the opportunity to be part of an incredibly meaningful tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

The Old Town Run Club is completing a 485-mile Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Remembrance Relay, carrying the American flag every mile from the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA, to the Pentagon and ultimately to Ground Zero in New York City.

🏃‍♂️ The relay is expected to reach Glen Rock around 7:00 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, September 8.

🇺🇸 A runner exchange will take place at the Glen Rock Fire Department, where one group of runners will finish its portion of the journey and place the American flag into the hands of the next group to continue on.

🚒 The runners will also receive a fire es**rt through Glen Rock as they make their way through our community.

➡️ The Winery at Wyndridge

We would love to see Glen Rock turn out along the route to welcome these runners and show them what our community is all about. Bring your American flags, your families, your children, and your friends and cheer them on as they pass through town. 🇺🇸

For all 485 miles, the American flag continues moving from runner to runner and community to community. The relay honors the lives lost on September 11, the firefighters, police officers and first responders who ran toward danger, and the men and women who continue to serve and protect our communities today.

The relay also supports the mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides support to first responders, military members, veterans and their families.

Come out around 6:00 p.m. tonight and help us give these runners a welcome they’ll remember as they carry the American flag through our community and continue their journey toward Ground Zero.

Did you know Indian Steps has a Glen Rock connection?

If you're looking for something to do next month, here's a little local history to go along with this event at Indian Steps Museum!

Indian Steps was built between 1908 and 1912 by John Edward Vandersloot, a York County attorney and collector who created the unique property that would eventually become the Indian Steps Museum. Vandersloot was born right here in Glen Rock in 1869!

Today, Indian Steps is preserved by the Conservation Society of York County and remains one of York County's most distinctive historic sites.

So while the festival may be happening along the Susquehanna, there's a little piece of Glen Rock history behind the place hosting it.

Attention Glen Rock Borough residents: Glen Rock Water & Sewer is aware of a water main break on Cottage Avenue. Water from the break is running underground and behind several homes on Hanover Street. The water main break is scheduled for repairs tomorrow, August 12.

Due to a truck breakdown the trash in Rexwood was not picked up. A truck will be out first thing tomorrow for pickup.

Due to the forecast and possibility of high winds tonight please do not leave your cans out overnight.
