Dry and breezy conditions will lead to another day of elevated or critical fire weather conditions on Friday. This Red Flag Warning covers all of the Front Range Foothills, I-25 Corridor, South Park, Palmer Divide, and adjacent plains through much of eastern Colorado.

04/22/2026

Critical fire weather conditions will develop across the Front Range Foothills, South Park, I-25 Urban Corridor, and the eastern plains of Colorado Wednesday. The worst conditions can be expected from mid-late afternoon through the evening as southwest winds increase with gusts of 30-45 mph. The strongest winds will occur from South Park across the Palmer Divide area, spreading to the Front Range Foothills for the evening. The winds will combine with relative humidity values in the single digits to create conditions favorable for rapid wildfire spread. Avoid any activity that may produce a spark, and be ready to take swift action should a wildfire start closeby. Always follow instructions from local officials.

The Glen Haven Area Volunteer Fire Department spent this past Saturday on our annual Wildland Fire Safery Training Annual Refresher (RT-130).

A Red Card (officially called an Indident Qualification Card) is a certification that indicates a firefighter is trained, physically fit, and qualified to perform in wildland operations. The Red Card is recognized across federal, state and tribal agencies.

Qualification for a Red Card requires successful completion of levels of classroom instruction and a Pack Test.

Saturday was the all day refresher course for our Red Cards and practice for soon-to-be Red Cards.

The Pack Test is a 3-mile run in less than 45 minutes with a 45lb pack.

Our crew used the up and downhill of Dunraven Glade to add to the challenge.

Call us if you need us!

We're here for you.

Don't forget to help us out by buying a quack pack and be in the running for some cool prizes!

A continuation of warm and dry conditions combined with increasing winds for Monday will bring critical fire weather conditions to the Mountain Valleys, Front Range Foothills, I-25 Corridor, and adjacent plains. Rapid fire spread will be possible with any newly started fire. Be sure to avoid any outdoor activities that may produce a spark and start a wildfire.
