The Glen Ellyn Police Department would like to congratulate Sergeant Dave Gill and Officer Omar Casarez, who were recognized this weekend at the 2026 MADD Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony in Springfield.

Sergeant Gill was presented with the MADD Murphy Leadership Award for his leadership and commitment to impaired-driving enforcement and traffic safety. The Murphy Leadership Award is not presented every year, but is given when MADD identifies an individual whose leadership and contributions warrant the recognition.

Officer Casarez received the MADD Hero Award for the second consecutive year, recognizing his continued dedication to DUI enforcement and keeping impaired drivers off our roadways.

Both officers have made impaired-driving enforcement a priority throughout their careers, and their work has made a difference in keeping our roads safer.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Gill and Officer Casarez on these well-deserved recognitions!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Storytime in the Park. We had a wonderful time connecting with members of our community. A special thank you to our friends at the Glen Ellyn Public Library for inviting us to be part of this fantastic event! Our officers loved meeting everyone, answering questions, and giving community members the opportunity to take a closer look inside our police vehicles. We hope everyone enjoyed story time with Officer Tabor as much as we did. We look forward to seeing you all at the next community event!

In preparation for the Glen Ellyn Fireworks this weekend, the Village of Glen Ellyn - Government will begin setup of temporary no parking and one-way signs. These will be posted in the area of the Glen Ellyn Park District Freedom Four race route and Lake Ellyn Park.
🇺🇸 Temporary parking and one-way restrictions in these areas are only enforced on September 6th.
🇺🇸 Temporary road closures and detours will be in place starting at 6am on September 6th.

🛑Watch for stopped school buses! Slow down for flashing yellow and STOP for red flashing lights.

Drive Sober. Buckle Up. Arrive Alive.

From August 14 through September 8, the Glen Ellyn Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High. Get a DUI," and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.

Officers will conduct additional enforcement focused on impaired driving, seat belt compliance, and other dangerous driving behaviors throughout the Labor Day season.

Before celebrating, make a plan:

• Designate a sober driver
• Use a rideshare or taxi
• Buckle up—every seat, every trip
• Never drive impaired

This local effort is part of a larger statewide campaign supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which administers the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns with federal highway safety funds. The initiative is reinforced by IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” media campaign running across radio, TV and digital platforms to highlight the deadly consequences of impaired driving.
