HOUSE FIRE 9/13/2026. On the 13th of September at 3:57 pm Dispatcher Klimaszewski received multiple calls from Nassau County Fire Communications - Firecom regarding an attached garage fire at 14 Stuart Drive. 3rd Asst. Chief Philip Grella was first to the scene, transmitted a Signal 10 and set up Operations; 2nd Asst. Chief Sujeski arrived immediately thereafter and set up Command. Engine 523 of Pacific Engine & Hose #1 was the 1st Due Engine and put the initial hose line in operation. 1st Due Ladder 5211 arrived at the scene immediately thereafter followed by 2nd Due Engine 524 of GCFD Engine & Hose Company No.4., followed by Engine 528 and Chemical Company #1 Engine 521.
The fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes. No occupants were in the home at the time of the fire. However two dogs were rescued by Glen Cove 3rd Assistant Chief Grella and Sea Cliff Fire Department Chief Koopmann. The dogs were administered oxygen by Roslyn Rescue Chief Brennan and Firefighter Rodni Leftwich Jr. The dogs were then transported to the Veterinary Hospital by City of Glen Cove EMS Chief Tom Kenary and Firefighter Paul Lottes. As of September 15, dogs are all in good condition. No injuries were sustained. The Office of the Fire Marshal - County of Nassau is currently investigating the incident.
