It is with deep regret, the Chiefs, Officers, Members, and Staff of City of Glen Cove Volunteer EMS Corps announce the Line of Duty death of Emergency Medical Technician Susan Giovanniello.

EMT Giovanniello proudly served as a volunteer responding to many emergency calls throughout the City of Glen Cove, rising up from Glen Cove EMS Explorer Post 1072 to a caring professional who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our community.

Susan, with her contagious smile and demeaner, put forth calm in stressful situations as it related to patient care. Her enthusiasm for training and teamwork with the Corps will be greatly missed; she is a hero and will live on in our hearts forever.

Susan will be reposing at Dodge Thomas Funeral Home Wednesday 4/5/2023 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm.

Funeral will be Thursday 4/6/2023 10am at St. Rocco's Church, Glen Cove, NY 11542.

City of Glen Cove Volunteer EMS Chief Robert C. Picoli III

Chief of Department, Robert C. Picoli III, has been an active member of Glen Cove EMS since 2016, rising up the ranks as Lieutenant in 2018, and Captain in 2019.

Chief Picoli works professionally as a career EMT with Northwell Health and works with Jericho Fire District. Chief Picoli is also an AHA BCLS instructor, works Rescue Task Force for EMS, and a Nassau County Fire Scene Safety Officer.

Thank you Chief Picoli for your dedication to our community.

Glen Cove Volunteer EMS Assistant Chief Valicenti

"I have been an active member and EMT since 2008. I’ve gone up the ranks from lieutenant to Chief of Department and now the 1st Assistant Chief. I am also a Rescue Medic for NYC and work several other places on the island as a paramedic. I strongly believe that EMS makes a difference and I love educating. I became a Paramedic from St. John’s EMSI in 2009. I have training as a HazMat Tech II, Technical rescue, and Firefighter 1. In my spare time I enjoy playing ice hockey and playing with my bulldog Max."

Thank you Chief Valicenti for going through the ranks for a second time!

Glen Cove EMS Paramedic Meagan Valicenti
Paramedic Valicente has been with Glen Cove EMS since 2015. She is a Rescue Paramedic in NYC but started her EMS career as a volunteer for Binghamton. She enjoys working with both paid and volunteers in the community of Glen Cove.

Fun fact: She met her husband Chief Valicenti, on her first day!

Thank you Meagan for your service to our community!!!

City of Glen Cove EMS Supervisor DeMetropolis

"Hi. I’m Christopher DeMetropolis EMS supervisor for the City of Glen Cove. When I’m not at work you can typically find me on a beach, fly fishing a creek or skiing. Time away from the workplace is necessary to rest and recharge so I am at my best when I’m on the job.

I am grateful to have a staff that is passionate about EMS as I am. The past 15 years in this department has been anything but boring. I look forward to working with new and experienced EMTs and paramedics. Happy EMS week to all the providers."

Thank you Supervisor DeMetropolis for your hard work and guiding the staff through the Pandemic!

City of Glen Cove Volunteer EMS Lt. McIntyre

Lt. McIntyre started with Glen Cove EMS in February of 2019.

"I applied for Glen Cove EMS after a friend of mine (Captain Nasani) had a conversation with me about joining. I wasn’t sure if I would be accepted being as I had no prior experience as an EMT. I decided to give it a chance and I was accepted; I spent 6 months as a probationary member and attended Nassau County fire-police academy where I learned the basic knowledge of how to be an EMT. These last 2 years I have spent with EMS is where I have truly gained my knowledge with the help of the great staff of paid Paramedics, Technicians, the Chief's office, and senior members.

Through knowledge and hard work I was appointed as third lieutenant by chief of the department Robert C. Picoli III. I have often believed that as I did, gaining knowledge from senior members and partners within the Corps. is imperative to the success of new member and I am greatly humbled that I get to do so as a Lieutenant for the Corps. I thoroughly enjoy being apart of the Corps and giving back to my community. Although very rough some days it is well worth the hard work to be able to serve the community."

Thank you Lt. McIntyre for your continued service as you move up the ranks!
