Congratulations!
Annabelle Silecchia, a fourth-grade student from Connolly Elementary School, has received well-deserved recognition for her poem, “My Path.” This remarkable piece caught the attention of judges in the esteemed Walt Whitman Student Poetry Contest, earning her an honorable mention in the 38th annual competition for grades 3-4.
In acknowledging her remarkable achievement, Annabelle received a Certificate of Recognition, alongside citations from esteemed members of the legislative community. Assembly members Jake Blumencranz and Charles Lavine presented her with certificates of merit, while Congress member Thomas Suozzi presented her with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition.
The occasion was marked by a special photo opportunity, where Annabelle posed with poet-in-residence, Linda Gregerson; Walt Whitman Personator, Darrel Blaine Ford; and Education Director, Lisa Pulitzer.
Annabelle expressed her excitement, sharing, “I had a fantastic day and started writing more poetry when I got home. I can’t wait to enter this writing contest again next year.”
