Fixture for slicing door stops.
My wife requested a door stop for her class room. Other teachers saw it and wanted one so I made a fixture which would save my fingers and allow repeatability.
Using old 2x4 cutoffs I can knock out a dozen door stops in just minutes. Door stop, anybody?

I finished this Mickey-influenced recipe desk for Linda today. Its design evolved as more features were requested, which is why compromises are present.
The top is notched to fit around a staircase bracket which resulted in supports being inset. Then, drawers were requested after legs were tapered. Creativity was a partner in hanging those drawers.

Hand cut dovetails, while challenging, can be rewarding, especially when one overlooks gaps and deems them presentable. Since these are part of a desk in an obscure location the house, they will be deemed ‘good enough’ and perhaps invite better work next time.

If anyone knows of a midi-lathe, something about 1hp & reversible, I have a friend who is looking to move up but doesn’t want to buy a full size machine-yet.

The bench is complete and installed thanks to members Lewis Childs and Jim Rollins.
Finishing touches included attaching the leg vise, boring bench dog holes, and applying a finish, which in these photos has yet to be done.
A shelf is also needed underneath to hide much of the debris scattered about the shop

The gantry & sling successfully lifted and turned the slab so that mortising could begin. Mortising took place in three steps. 1. Rough out with forstner bit. 2. Template rout to a pattern for smooth sides & ends ( not shown) 3. Chisel corners and remove waste.
Legs and stringers were then dry-fitted in preparation for anticipated turning over tomorrow

Help from members Lewis Childs and Jim Rollins to build a frame which will lift and rotate the heavy-as-can-be workbench table. A cable from the top of the frame attached to a come-along should be able to lift the slab so that mortised can be cut into the bottom.
