Anne Arundel County residents are encouraged to prepare now for the possibility of additional storms this evening.

Before storms arrive:

Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, decorations, and loose items.
Charge phones, medical devices, and backup batteries.
Have flashlights ready and avoid using candles during outages.
Know where to go indoors if a warning is issued.
Never drive through flooded roads or around barricades.
Stay away from downed trees and power lines.

Anne Arundel County residents impacted by last night’s severe weather are encouraged to report storm-related damage using the county’s damage assessment form.

Submitting a report helps county officials better understand community impacts and coordinate response and recovery efforts. This form is for damage reporting only. It does not replace contacting your insurance provider to report damage and begin the claims process.

Anne Arundel County is opening Magothy River Middle School as a temporary respite center for residents impacted by power outages and today’s high heat.

The center will be open until 8 p.m. today for residents who need temporary cooling relief or a place to charge essential devices.

There are several power outages affecting parts of Anne Arundel County, and high heat index values are expected today. Please be aware that Anne Arundel County Police Department District Station lobbies and community rooms are available 24/7 for residents who need temporary cooling relief, access to restrooms, water, or a place to charge essential devices.

These are short-term relief locations and do not provide medical care. Pets are generally not permitted, except service animals. For questions about overnight sheltering, or special accommodations, call the Anne Arundel County Crisis Warmline at 410-768-5522. During extreme heat, drink water, limit time outdoors, check on neighbors, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
